From cult Spanish filmmaker José Ramón Larraz (Vampyres, Symptoms) comes this long-neglected late 80s slasher classic, finally unleashed on Blu-ray for the first time ever! The rural community of Paddock County is being rocked by the crazed exploits of an axe-wielding psychopath, who stalks the night in a black trenchcoat and mask. As the victims pile up, the authorities attempt to keep a lid on the situation, whilst computer whizz-kid Gerald and girlfriend Lillian seek to unmask the killer before the town population reaches zero.Nominally set in Northern California but shot primarily in Madrid, giving the film an off-kilter, American/European atmosphere akin to the likes of Pieces, Edge of the Axe is a late entry hack-and-slash masterpiece from one of the titans of Spanish terror.SPECIAL EDITION CONTENTSBrand new 2K restoration from the original camera negativeEnglish and Spanish language versions of the featureOriginal uncompressed mono audioOptional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing for the English soundtrackNewly translated English subtitles for the Spanish soundtrackBrand new audio commentary with actor Barton FaulksBrand new audio commentary with The Hysteria ContinuesNewly-filmed interview with actor Barton FaulksThe Pain in Spain - a newly-filmed interview with special effects and make-up artist Colin ArthurImage GalleryReversible sleeve featuring original and newly-commissioned artwork by Justin OsbournFIRST PRESSING ONLY: Collector’s booklet featuring new writing by Amanda Reyes

Could Not Be More Pleased
This is an absolutely awesome edition of this late-80's, slasher gem. They got new interviews with two of the primary cast members (including the main star), along with the special effects guru behind all the gore, plus a couple of great commentary tracks as well. The new cover art looks awesome (and it's reversible in case you prefer the original), and the restoration of the film itself looks fantastic. Arrow Video does it again, and manages to create THE definitive edition for a cult-favorite film. Highly recommended.

Finally off of VHS!!
I gave it five stars because this needed to get off VHS and Arrow finally answered the call by delivering a gorgeous Blu-Ray presentation. I personally, would give the picture 5/5 stars. The audio however, is really bad at times. This can kinda be expected though, as this was a low budget film. (use subtitles )The film itself, is a decent slasher film just riddled with 80s vibe and video store nostalgia. You can tell its very low budget but if you love 80s slashers then you'll have no problems with this.

Another underappreciated slasher brought back to life
I enjoyed the release of this film. It's not perfect, and it could've been gorier, but enough happens here that's different and interesting, it's worth a purchase. Maybe for hardcore slasher fans only.

80's slasher given respect it does not deserve
God, I love this movie! I grew up renting everything 80's horror on VHS, but this one I missed. It looks and sounds amazing, 80's slashers are my favorite sub-genre so I am probably super biased, but this movie is great and I will be re-watching it often and it has earned a rare permanent spot in my ever shrinking home library.

Quite fun for what it is
A Spanish-made slasher set in rural Northern California, the dialogue often seems like it was churned out by an English-language random word generator and it's tough to pinpoint an unequivocally sympathetic character, but it does the job. The axe kills (I'm assuming that's not a spoiler, given the title and poster) are effectively brutal.

Cheesy but so SO MUCH FUN!
I didn't have much expectation for this film, but I was happy to be wrong and had a lot of fun watching this film from beginning to end. The plot twist was a little anticlimactic, but the death scenes made up for it, THANK YOU ARROW!!!!
