Beautiful, quick, light-hearted fun!
First, the box I received didn't come with the old score track as pictured in the photo. Instead of the built-in scoring, it came with the actual playing board with score track on it. This new option is better, and not a mismatch I will complain about. The game itself is simple enough to teach to anyone and full of light-hearted fun. If you have people in your family or gaming group that enjoy art and abstract thinking, they'll enjoy this game. It's game that can easily be enjoyed with kids while still remaining fun for the adults - always a good thing! Some say the cards in the base game will get boring, which is probably true if you play a lot. This can easily be remedied by adding an expansion or two. This box comes with enough space to store 3 expansions in it, which is yet another bonus in the updated version. We've come up with 2 player variant as well since the only reason we avoided buying this for so long is that we often only have 2 players. If you do have 2 players, it's still worth having for times when you can play with more, but the 2 player variant will ensure you get more use out if it. Our variant is simple: the active player (giving the clue) will still contribute 1 card and the other player will contribute 2 cards as listed in the 3p variation in the rulebook. In addition, you will draw 2 cards off the top of the deck, without looking at them, and mix them in. BOTH players will then try to guess which card belonged to the player. If the original player's card (the one who gave the clue) is guessed, both players gain 2 points. In addition, if the clue-giver guesses the other player's card, the secondary player gains 1 point. The winner is still the person who gets to 30 points first.

Fun for ALL ages! From 9 to 91
We play this game when our family gets together. It is so easy and so much fun. Generations sitting around the table laughing, competing and having a great time. So versatile that our 9 year old was having as much fun as his 91 year old grandmother!

Dixit is fun for almost everyone -- except for Wilma and Sam.
This is a fun version of Apples to Apples except with pictures. I am not a big fan of Apples to Apples- but the game play is pretty much the same. I like this game though. One member of our game group hates it. HATES IT! They just don't get the concept of how to play. I believe Sam Healy from the Dice Tower doesn't like it either. I do.Everybody gets 6 cards with various artwork on the card. The artwork is weird. Super Weird. Most of the artwork has various ways of interpreting what the main idea of the card is -- like I said its a little weird. Well the storyteller plays one card face down and says a clue about the card. The clue can be one word, a sentence, a song title, an action, etc. The storyteller wants at least one person BUT NOT everyone to figure out what his card is based on his clue. Everybody else then plays a card face down based on the clue given. The cards are shuffled, dealt face up, and players than secretly vote on which card they feel is the storyteller's card. If you guess the storyteller's card you get a certain amount of points (2) along with the storyteller. BUT if everybody guesses the storyteller's card you get 3 points BUT the storyteller gets 0. If nobody guesses the storyteller's card everybody gets 3 points and the storyteller gets 0. if anybody guesses your card then you get one point for each guess.Basically I play by giving a clue that I know only one person would figure out. My son (13) and I just watched planet of the Apes, so I gave a clue that said monkeys (but the card looked like the Statue of Liberty's arm coming out of the dirt) and he guessed the right card, but the other players did not. Our friend (Wilma") played this game and did not get any points. she was super bad at the game. The storyteller gave the most obvious clues and she overthought it and guessed wrong every time. EVERY. TIME. It was hilarious. She didn't think it was as funny as the rest of us. BUT - she is notoriously bad at most games we play. In fact a member of our game group leaned up and whispered to me as we went for snakcs -- well I guess we can cross DIXIT of the list of game suitable for "Wilma".
