Bialetti 06618 Moka 1-Cup Gasket/Filter Replacement Parts

However much I searched, neither Amazon nor the website of makers of Bialetti offer gaskets for a 2 cup machine. They offer either for a 1 cup or 3 cups machine. Then why sell a 2 cup machine? Because of you people, I wasted my money as what I got cannot be used in the machine I bought through Amazon last year.

Replacement parts for a small espresso maker I wasn’t even sure would work, they did!

I grew up drinking espresso out of the little Bialetti-style coffee pots. I have a collection of several sizes but the one that gets used the most is the 1-cup.None of mine have been a genuine Bialetti. Most of them were purchased years ago at local mom-n-pop stores that sold whatever oddball brands fell off the boat. They've all worked fine (with the exception of one particularly bad one I got at, of all places, Ikea).One thing they all have in common is that they cook gaskets over time. I used to live near a hardware store that carried replacement gaskets in bulk for about 50 cents apiece, but those days are long gone. Now I have to order online.A set of three gaskets will last me a couple of years with daily use. I'm about due for a replacement now, and I think I still have one gasket left. It's nice to have a few spares laying around for when your percolator starts seeping between the base and top. Even with the oddball collection of clones that I have, original Bialetti gaskets have always fit and worked fine. Same for the filters.Whenever I replace the gasket, I usually lay a piece of sandpaper on a really flat surface and lap the top of the water chamber flat. This gets rid of any nicks that might tear the gasket or cause a leak. I clean the top thoroughly to make sure that there's no coffee grounds or lime scale that might tear a gasket. I also check the brass pressure relief valve in the water chamber and clean it if necessary. Probably overkill but all of that takes a few minutes and I don't need to do it often.I've never found it necessary to change the filter. It always washes clean when I rinse the pot. I do replace it from time to time as a precaution, but I've never had one get plugged with the grind of espresso that I use. Perhaps mineral deposits in an area with very hard water would do it, or a very fine grind of espresso, but I've never had a problem.These pots will make espresso for DECADES if taken care of-- a couple of mine are literally older than I am. The only parts that really wear out are the gaskets. Be aware that if you keep gaskets around for too long, they will dry out and get brittle. I found a couple of long-forgotten gaskets in the back of a cupboard once that broke in my hand when I tried to flex them. However, that's not usually a concern unless you forget about them like I did, and if you have a relatively fresh replacement gasket around, you'll never be without espresso.
