Complete On-the-Go Prep Cards for the ISEBs and 11+
My son is due to sit his 11+ Pre-Tests at the start of his new school year. The 11+ test is undertaken by selective state Grammar Schools and for entry into Independent Schools in the private sector. They are a little more difficult than the SATs. Though revision isn't encouraged by the examining board in the private sector. I believe the schools themselves, recommend some work is done in the holidays leading up to the exams. We have now amassed quite a collection of revision material of late. Particularly, in the field of 11+ material.CGP is our go-to brand. As a teacher in my youth, I relied on their material to teach children from underprivileged backgrounds. Their explanations, examples, practise material and answers are all to a very high, excellent standard. Their content and expertise, in my humble opinion has gotten even better with time; The structure of the books have certainly improved.Back in my teaching days, I noticed a huge difference in the ability of the children, when taught in small groups, using CGP. In most cases, upping considerably their grades. Of course, much guidance and encouragment is needed from the guardian/teacher as the answers on this set are printed on the reverse of the cards. As a parent now - having tested other brands too: I keep coming back to CGP. These revision cards, though new, are so well thought out.The layout is simple yet effective: The question are on one side and the answers on the other. There is very useful and relevant tips on the rear answer-side of the cards which really help if your youths are stumped by the answer. They are split into coloured categories, with eye-catching graphics and each card is numbered so that in can be slot easily back into the stack. The pack is lofty and larger in dimensions to a standard playing cards deck - with over a 100 cards. This material, though great as stand-alone revision are also an incredible help to have alongside the CGP 10 Minute Practise Books. As you can use the cards to do more targeted revision on any areas of focus - they're so simple to use this way, as the cards are split neatly (see image) into categories which you can slot out. Easy to transport too and have already accompanied us to the local coffee shop, car-rides and after-school adventures. My Only Qualm:It has no 'Index' card to quickly locate a specific sub-category from the colour-coded larger groups.I hope you've found this review as useful as we are finding this set.

Great for extracting information and making sense of questions.
These cards are essentially a set of revision cards which cover a variety of verbal reasoning techniques, enabling your child to utilise said verbal reasoning techniques in order to think more constructively when trying to understand the context of paragraph passages.Whilst I was at school, I was good at extracting information from an English exam and making sense of it, however I always found it difficult to make sense of some phrases that I did not have in my vocabulary.Usually the exams consist of a paragraph and the student is required to answer questions based on the paragraph which tests the child’s ability to make sense of information – but sometimes understanding the phrase that the question asks of is not enough to answer the question, therefore these cards help by improving your child’s ability to use logic to make sense of them. Each card has a set of questions on one side and answers on the reverse and uses the typical cover, answer and check scheme. They are quite small cards made from durable plastic that will not rip.The cards have good illustrations as well as neatly laid out questions. When I was at school, we never had stuff like this, therefore I think it would be a great study technique for supplementing your child’s learning and will provide great benefit for your child when they sit their English exams.

Useful, packed information, excellent for revision
These cards are full of useful information, very useful for my kid. We pick a few cards each time, quickly go through them and then I ask him questions to check his memory and understanding. Well made and well designed. They are very good as an additional revision tool. Highly recommended.

All in one pack
This is a great all in one revision pack, due to their size we have found them to be great for studying whilst in the car or train. Well written and some great content.

Brilliant! Good fun. Great for independent learning on the back seat!
Loving these cards. They can be used to work through sat with your child, or you can take out a few cards for them to try on the way to school in the back seat. The questions are are all, and the answers fully explained. Topics are all clearly colour coded. The questions are split into 5 main topics The Alphabet, Making Words,Word Meanings, Maths and Sequences, and finally Logic and Coding. Suitable for all the 11+ exams syllabus variations. Well thought through. Great to work with. Only one minor criticism is the size of the text on the cards is small.
