So, not sure why so many are having problems trying to figure this thing out. It has instructions if you need them, but if you just look at the description of the parts you can basically figure it out. Unscrew your old one and put the appropriate size screw on the bottom of this and screw it back in. They have a supplied "tightening tool". Just put it on top of the it and tighten and finish putting on the top. EASY!The other thing I keep reading is people can get the water to drain because they don't know how to pull it up. First of all, I am concerned. Are you bailing the water out by hand or are you just leaving it in your tub? Again, instructions are your friend here. Unlike most drains (like you old one) you don't twist it. Just simply pull it straight up. And to plug the drain, simply push it down (again, no twisting).Once we had an issue where it didn't seal completely and was making a faint humming noise. Pushing down on it again, stopped it immediately. Other than that no issues at all and cleaning it is easy as well.

It’s a great concept and works like it should by catching hair instead of it going down the drain but when it’s closed (stopped down) it doesn’t seal all the way so the water drains out if you are trying to take a bath. Also it’s a bit tricky to get out to clean. Other than that it’s a good product.

At first I thought this would be great. A little hard to install, but seemed worth it. Well, it's impossible to clean out and fills up very quickly. Once it's full, the water doesn't go down and then everyone complains. It's hard to get out, hard to remove hair etc, and hard to put back. I got tired of it blocking water from going down so I ended up just removing it. Looking for a different brand/solution. This isn't it and is not worth the money!

I bought a house that was missing the drain cap in the guest bathtub. I bought one of those cheap screen ones, that you can bend to fit. It worked fine but didn’t looks so good. This one fit perfectly and looks like it was part of the original drain. Very clean looking and easy enough to pop out and clean out hair/dirt.Highly recommend if you need to replace and old one or a missing one.

This is great at keeping my wife's long hair from clogging or slowing the drain each week. Assembly and installation were simple, and removal for cleaning is easy as well. Reaching into the basket to clean it is difficult given how narrow it is (You really need a toothpick or something.) but it is well worth it.

I really wanted to like this DrainBuddy tub product because I wanted to have a hair catchment and tub drain plug in one. The metal chrome lid felt expensive and substantial. The concept is fine except for the plastic hair catchment basket. It drained slower than when I had a flat strainer over the drain which defeats the purpose since any hair will make it drain even slower. Was standing in pooled water during and after a shower. Too bad it couldn't mimic the TubShroom which uses a columnar rubber basket that maximizes the drain hole surface, have not had any drainage stoppage with the TubShroom even with lots of hair. Only drawback to that is TubShroom doesn't act as a stopper. Looking for something that works that incorporates the pluses of these two inventions.UPDATE: Found it! Purchased a Plumb Pak K826-37 Bath Tub Stopper with Hair Catcher, it incorporates the pluses of Drain Buddy and Tubshroom in one for me, plus same heavy quality chrome lid. Easily pulls out in one piece instead of two to clean like Tubshroom but locks tight for a stopper like Drain Buddy. Like the Drain Buddy, you'll need a drain with the crossbar which I have which can't be removed, I'd need to replace the entire tub to do that! This was a good alternative.

I was looking for an easy fix to catching hair in my tub. This product is super easy to use! I simply removed the existing stopper and replaced with the Drain Buddy. It's easy to clean. Exactly what I was hoping for!
