GREAT quality, and GREAT price
I have to give this product 5 stars because for one thing they aren't that expensive. Most other products will be on the verge of expensive, but this wet fire solid fuel was great for the job. I did wet it down a bit, and simply scraped off a little bit and boom, fire. I like the fact that even a little tiny piece of this will burn nice sized flames, I mean literally a small little piece can start a fire. It really only took me 1 spark from my Ferro rod and I had a perfectly hot bright fire. I tossed on some wood shavings then some bigger pieces and before I knew it I had a big warm fire.

Lights Easily, burns hot.
I took this product on a hiking trip and used it to start some fires at my campsite. The key to using this product is to get all of the shavings in a small pile that you can easily get sparks on. I used a ferrocerium rod and striker, and it worked wonderfully.Again, I can't reiterate how important it is to make sure that you have the shavings of this fuel in a pile where you can get sparks directly onto. You need that extra surface area, and once you get sparks on the it should catch very easily. All of this being said, all of the wood and fuel and kindling I used was very dry, so I cannot speak as far as using this with a wet fire. I will update my review if I ever come across a situation where I do use this to start a wet fire.

Impressive
My wife bought these the first time and I griped and said it was stupid and unnecessary. That said I have never not been able to get a fire going even in the rain. But man oh man these things let me be lazy and always work first time. Plus I use them backpacking and they are super lite! I admit it. I would spend 5-10 min and brake up the twigs getting the perfect kindling and staging based on size to nurse a hard to light fire. Sometimes even having to use my knife and shave wood to get dry prices to start with. But this stuff is so easy and fool proof I seriously can just lump a bunch of sticks in a pile light this unde them and walk away. It's truly taken any skill necessary to light a fire and tossed gas on it. Lol. I'm hooked it's to easy and cheap not to use them.

Good product but doesn't last forever
Perform as advertised and I've never not been able to get a fire started with a wetfire, especially in wet conditions when dry tinder and kindling is hard to come by. I like that multiple fires can be started with one cube and they are clean and easy to work with, not messy like vaseline cotton balls. What I don't like about this product is that it expires. Not a deal breaker but certainly a fact you need to be aware of and make sure the packaging still has a good seal and a "pillow" feel with air in the package. I rotate mine out every 18 months max. Overall, a good product that deserves consideration in your fire kit.

Perfect product
This is one of those items that you really learn to love. My area of the country tends to be a little on the wet side and sometimes firestarting can be a little tedious, we pretty much get a 40-60 percent chance of rain along with every summer day. These things work everytime and they burn for quite a while. I have not actually timed them but they burn for long enough to get wet tinder going and thats all i care about. My only complaint is that for what they are they seem a little pricey, but i get over it. They are NOT wind proof. the pieces are so light weight that they tend to blow everywhere with the slightest breeze, but with the proper prep this is not an issue. They are however completely waterproof, and will burn floating in a cup of water.....I tried, it works. Great product.

Wish I had when I was a kid...
Between this and the swedish fire steel, I really wish I had this stuff when I was a kid camping...Been having rain and flooding in this area the last few days (and 5 tornados in this part of the state two nights ago) so everything outside is wet, wet, wet. So I pulled some junk from around where I was putting in new grass after landscaping (have a lot of straw laying around) and played with the fire steel and one of these, to test things out. It took me a little bit to get the best motion on the fire steel, but when I did, and used some of this to start things off, I was amazed at how well it worked.Got it started well, and it was a consistent and hot enough blaze to quickly dry out the straw I had near it that started wet, and was able to get that going, and eventually a decent little fire, despite everything starting out wet when I first hunkered down in the back yard.So if you're a camper or just someone who loves doing campfires, this is a great product.I saw reviews with people talking about vaseline and cotton balls and such, but for me, my time is well worth the buck or whatever one of these costs. Its not like I'm doing 5 fires a day and it really does become a noticeable savings to make my own, so I'm more than happy paying for a product that is this good at doing what it says it does.

Works like it says. You can't beat this stuff.
Works like it says. You can't beat this stuff to start a fire especially if it's damp or wet outside. Such an important thing to have with you in the field. Keep a few in different areas so you'll always have a solid way to get a fire going. A few in your pack, your jacket, your pocket, whatever. They can be a lifesaver. You also don't need the whole thing if you're not using it to cook. To start a fire you can use a small piece. Just make sure you keep them closed, sealed until you need them & put the leftover in a pill bottle or something similar with a screw down lid. They dry out and lose their power after a while. They also stink so don't keep them in your Nalgene bottle or cooking containers. Kind of like rotten fish and rubber? Anyway, get some. They're worth it.

Easy to use, and good for starting a fire.
I've been using the product for years now. They are easy to light, and light weight. Would recommend them to anyone that camps. Scrape a few shavings (the smaller the better) It is easy to light with ANY heat source, but not so easy that your scared to carry it. Works well with spark from a dead lighter, Flint, Magnesium Sparker, match, lighter, ETC.. I'm no expert but I do love the out doors, and camping.Though it would be cool to get a discount/free stuff for my honest review, I did not get any.. This is all me spending my $ and giving my honest review.
