Amazing stuff when you get it to work.
This stuff is so awesome. It took a couple tries to get a suspension fluid that worked, but when it did it was pure magic. For anyone wondering, I bought a square shaped vinegar bottle, and rinsed with with distilled water. I filled the bottle with distilled water and added kosher salt until the salt no longer dissolved. I dumped some out and added distilled water to get the last of the salt dissolved. I let that sit for a day, and then added the ferrofluid with a pipette an inch below the surface of the mixture and used a strong 1" cube rare earth magnet to pull the ferrofluid to the side of the glass. The salt water makes the ferrofluid want to dance and float everywhere so the magnet helps to grab it as it comes out of the pipette. I wiped any excess off the top with a paper towel and then topped off with the same saturated salt solution. That was pretty much it! Good luck!P.S. If it does stick to the glass the ferrofluid isn't wasted. Simply hold it in place at the bottom with a magnet and dump out the container. I did a couple distilled water rinses while holding the ferrofluid in place and then used a new pipette to transfer it to the next container.

Mess anticipation.
I appreciate the extra bag around vials for any spillage of which there was some. This stuff is a mess...loved it.

Very cool stuff, mind you don't spill it though!
The fluid comes with two small screwtop plastic containers, along with a standard plastic petri dish and pipette. For the best effect I would advise putting a small amount in the petri dish, barely enough to cover the surface, and approach with a magnet from below. Be very careful, as a strong magnet from the side can easily cause the fluid to fly over the edge out of the petri dish!Be extra careful, since the fluid stains most materials, and can be difficult to wash out.The effect from a magnet is very interesting to look at. The volumes required are very small so this amount could be used to amuse quite a few people.

Perfekt für Demonstration
Ferrofluid sehr stark, aber Petri-Schale leider nur Plastik
