Midtronics - 6V & 12V Digital Battery Conductance & Electrical System Analyzer Battery Tester -MDX 640 - Testing for Automotive, Motorcycle & More

I purchased this instrument to upgrade an ancient Midtronics analyzer that was over 10 years old. The were significant improvements noted over my previous tester including more menu choices and increased amp-hour capacity. The MDX 640 lives up to the Midtronics reputation. I highly recommend this instrument to anybody whose work includes assessing the health of secondary batteries.

High quality American product. Heavy duty for commercial use.Gives results quickly and easily. Way better then old school load testing.Very easy to use. Just enter CCA or other standard of battery to be tested, and hit enter. Displays battery voltage, CCA remaining, as well as weather or not replacement is necessary.Does not display internal resistance measured or any charging voltage information.

The seller indicated the tester checks starting and charging systems. This is a lie, it only tests the battery. Would not have bought if the seller had a accurate description. Otherwise, very good at testing batteries only.

I have recently been having some battery issues with my motorcycle and had to keep taking the battery in to the shop for testing, and they kept charging me to test it, so I decided to just pick up my own battery tester. This Midtronics is not really a consumer item, but meant for a garage or mechanic, mainly due to how expensive it is. However, it does what it is supposed to do, and after getting it working I brought it out to my battery and followed the instructions and it told me I needed to replace my battery. I did, and when I bought a new one, I tested that one as well, and even though the shop sold me a brand new battery, this tester told me it had a bad cell. So I brought it back to the shop and replaced the new battery. It was totally worth the price just to have been able to do that and get myself a good working battery. It's overkill for what I needed, but did what I wanted, so all in all, it's a good battery tester.
