SENSE-ation No-Pull Dog Harness - 3/4" Wide Medium/Large

The media could not be loaded. We purchased this harness a month after rescuing our lab mix. (It's hard to see in the video because it is black as is her fur.) She had never been leash walked prior to our adopting her, so that was something we were definitely interested in working on together. Over the first few weeks of training, she was showing signs of improvement, but then she'd have a really bad couple of days where she would pull like mad for an entire 40 minute walk. We tried a regular harness, a Martingale collar, but nothing seemed to give consistent results. The first (and second, and third) walks with this No-Pull dog harness were amazing. True to name, no pulling at all. We have had three excellent 40 minute walks where there was at least 2' of slack leash between us, and she walked right by my side. We are very pleased so far. I want to underline, however, that this is not a cure-all harness. This harness would not magically turn a bad walker into a good walker - but IMO, it is a great tool for a dog that's being trained to walk well on a leash.Prior to purchasing, I read several consumer complaints about how easy it is for a dog to get out of this harness - but the included instructions clearly recommend you clip your leash to the harness AND to your dog's collar, so you have a backup just in case. Our dog is reasonably well behaved and doesn't *try* to get out of this harness, so we haven't had this issue, but if she did get out, the leash would still be attached to her collar, so no issue there. Just follow the instructions :)

I bought this harness to help reduce the leash pulling my young dog has been doing. Flat collars just don't do it for my dog. I have been trying all kinds of anti-leash pulling and found this helps quite a bit, but doesn't stop it 100%. The 'Halti" lead or as another name 'gentle leader' does more, but is dangerous on dogs if abrupt leash pull and head swing. Anyhow, the Sense-ation harness helped. The really only thing that helped my situation and did stop my young dog's leash pulling and nip it in the bud was a 1 week boot camp training. Seems I was in error of some leash holding and correction methods and I learned about training me to train my dog(S). ;o) Would I reccommend this product to try and buy and keep? Yep. What is even good about it is that it will not harm your pet's neck muscles to cause strain or premature 'wobblers' disease. The Sense-ation harness is another tool for me to use in daily training. I do not regret buying it even though my issues were corrected with a professional trainer handling my dog and training her, then training me.Pros: Really helps reduce the dog from leash pulling. Fits great when fitted on properly, and looks nice on dark coated dogs.Cons: Doesn't stop leash pulling 100%. when walking a dog who has too much strength, the harness can become totally useless, and one must becareful the dog will not escape out of it if too loose fitted.I always have 2 collars on, one for training methods, and one AKC approved for everyday wear, or backup.

We are mostly pleased with this harness. We have 2 Long Coat German Shepherds and they work pretty well for them. My only complaint would be the fit. Our dogs wear large and when you tighten the harness in all possible positions, the harnesses still hang lose on the dogs. Medium would for positive run way too small, as we have had them measured and their girth would be way too tight. So, I wish that they could somehow be tightened about an inch, inch and a half more, but they cannot be. I have thought about taking them to a shoe repairer and having them stitch them that way and still may do so. The quality of the harness is wonderful and the dogs look their beautiful selves when being walked in them ;)

I have a rambunctious 86 pound Rottweiller pup who is not at all deterred from pulling with a regular collar. This harness was recommended by a behavior specialist as the best one on the market. I can tell you my dog is a different animal with the harness on. He walks politely by my side, I only need a firm but gentle reminder to keep him from pulling and walks are pleasant. If he really decides to push it, I can simply lift his front end off the ground by grabbing the top of the harness. It is pain free for him, but an effective way to control him when excitement gets to be too much for his young mind to handle. I have only had to do it a couple of times and now he knows I can control him so he pretty much stops when I verbally warn him. The harness comes with excellent diagrams for proper fit, so there is no guessing. It does take a little trial and error because things shift as you walk, but once you get the good fit, there is no more adjusting except for puppy growth. My only problem is that, for my dog at least, if I forget and leave it on him, he eats it off. This is the third one I have purchased due to that. It is also not easy to find in my area. Our local emergency vet and the Humane Society sell them, but the vet at least does not always have all sizes in stock. I have not checked the Humane Society as it is far away. I'm thankful for ordering online.
