Dell P2314H 23-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor

I purchased this monitor to use in portrait orientation in a dual monitor setup at work. I do a lot of document review and word processing at my job, so a monitor that is able to pivot to portrait orientation so that I can view documents in full-size was a must. I should note that the Dell P2314H seems to essentially be a slightly slimmed-down update of the Dell U2312HM, which I also own, and which has positive overall reviews on Amazon. My review of the P2314H, in summary, is that this monitor is perfect for my setup and it is a great value. Here are my pros and cons:Pros:-The packaging it came in was very robust-No dead pixels or screen quality issues-It has the ability to pivot to portrait orientation, which is excellent for anyone who does a lot of document review and/or word processing at work-Adjusting the tilt, swivel, pivot, and height is a very smooth process, yet the monitor feels very solid/sturdy at the same time-Wide and sturdy stand-It won't win any design awards like the $999 Apple Thunderbolt Display, but the material and build quality of the P2314H looks and feels high for its price range-Several connection options (VGA, DVI, DisplayPort)-4 USB 2.0 ports-Great value for the price--I got it for $154.99Cons:-No HDMIAgain, the monitor has just about every feature and is really solid. A great buy in my opinion!

I ordered a refurbished monitor to match the one I already have.. The model was the same but the base was different unfortunately.. However, the monitor works brilliantly and I couldn't be happier with the quality.. The company was promt with delivery and it was very fairly priced.. Thank you.

I've been using three of these for a few months now and I'm very happy with them. I mostly use them for programming and gaming. They look great and I love being able to change their orientation easily. Portrait orientation is great for reading long documents or looking at source code, and the tilt and height adjustment is helpful to keep them in a comfortable position. I can easily view 3-5 source code files side by side on each of them.I mostly play Counter Strike and have not noticed any input lag, and I'm pretty picky about that.There is no splash screen when you turn the monitors on.I like how configurable the monitor settings are. For example, you can make the power LED stay off while the monitor is on.I think smaller monitors (maybe 21 or 22 inch) might work better for a triple monitor setup because you wouldn't have to turn your head as much and they would take up less desk space, but these are great if you have a big desk.I have not been able to drive any of these monitors over VGA (I tried all 3 of the cables that came with them). The screen flickers and looks really bad. VGA isn't really meant to drive resolutions this high though, and it isn't a problem for me.

My company bought one of these for me to use and I liked it so much that I bought a second, identical one. I don't do graphic design, color matching, play games, watch movies, or do anything that either might stress a monitor or require it to have some fancy set of specifications, so I can't tell you that this is the most fabulous monitor you can buy for the price. It is definitely not Brand X, however ... neither in function nor quality. If these models hold up as well as the other DELL monitors I have purchased (five others in the past), they are worth the extra $30 or so above what the cheapest ones cost. As the engineers play with these things and mostly not listen to actual end users, they seem to want to mess with the menu options, purported to improve them. Some menu adjustment interfaces are just downright awkward. The buttons (and what they do) and the menus called up by them on this monitor do not strike me as stupid or inherently unusable. Above average, certainly. Maybe not as flexible as the newer ViewSonic flat panel monitors, but then this monitor is not seriously intended to compete with one that costs twice as much. This is a perfectly serviceable 1920x1080 monitor for home or business use. The Dell AC511 USB Wired SoundBar is designed to attach to this DELL monitor, for which it is perfect in those environments, IMHO. Standard VESA attachment on the back for mounting. Everything you need.

Overall I like my monitor.Pros:- I love the ergonomic features. Height, tilt, swivel and pivot!- Text is OK. I code... a lot. I'll be updating later one after a year of use.Caveats:- I liked that it came with a DisplayPort. However I was sad to find out I couldn't use it because my laptop had a mini-displayport instead. My bad. I bought a mini-display port cable (Accell B143B-007J UltraAV Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable) and the image quality is a lot better than using the hdmi-dvi cable cable I had. Text is sharper, cleaner.- Still, I think text could look better. I remember reading some reviews here about disabling some image enhancement feature, which I think I already disabled. I'll double-check this and update if I can get the text to look better upon further inspection.- I also bought this monitor to be able to hook up my micro-HDMI windows tablet. For some reason (maybe the cable) the text doesn't looks as good as in my office Dell U2412M. On my office set-up I use and micro-HDMI to HDMI cable. At home, I first tried the HDMI-DVI cable but everything looks fuzzy with that one. I was disappointed I couldn't use a HDMI-to-DVI adapter as the design of the back of the monitor doesn't have enough room. I'll need an HDMI 270 degree angled adapter (which I just bought) to make it work. I'm hoping for the best here.Is all of this too much hassle? It's for you to decide. It's all in function of your time and money to make your set-up work for you.Cheers!
