Great for acoustic string instruments
I really like this stereo pair of condensers. I run them through a tube preamp and into an old Fostex hard drive digi recorder. Panning them 1/left and 1/right gives a very nice take on acoustic guitar. Sounds great on strings as well.

Fine mics at a decent price...
Seem very sensitive and work fine with the mixer I have with phantom 48 volt power options. Sleek and nice clips included .Satisfied with these and feel like the quality is more than I even need..

MXL is a brand to trust
Fantastic mics. Waited to review to get a good feel of these mics beyond use as drum over heads. Recorded blue grass band brilliantly. These are a “must have” item for any home studio. MXL mics are outstanding as I now own four, 990, 67 and now these CR21’s.

Sensitive and fragile
Very light weight. Not a preferred feel for mics I’m my opinion. These mics are EXTREMELY sensitive. Try to record a fart through a pop filter and the diaphragm reacts with a physical bow pop flex noise. I’m scared to place them on the 12 inch speaker on my cab for analog guitar recording because the real deal full volume capture will certainly flex the diaphragm causing the distortion and pop. Even on the cone.
