Q: I have an unusual use. Would this unit keep already cold water cold in a hot outside environment? Slow down the warming?

No, this unit will seek to make the cool water room temperature. There is no refrigeration unit in this model, it simply circulates the water returning to the input through a radiator to be cooled to ambient air temperature at best.

Q: Can I use this to cool 5-5gallon buckets with 25 gallons of water

I'm wondering the same thing, but I am only working with 2 5-gallon buckets (10 gallons of water). Root rot is the bane of my existence, so let me know if you ended up purchasing this and if it worked out well.

Q: Can the over temp be set to less than 60 deg C?

I used for 6 hours - 80% of laser power and the temperature was always less than 22°C
