Davis 6312 Vantage Pro2 Wireless Console/Receiver

This is the BEST. It is more expensive than others but worth it. I especially like how it will graph any of it's parameters...I graph the wind speed. It also updates every few seconds so you have more reliable trends (at least with the wind..with 10 minute avg wind speed readings to boot). My wife and I are avid cyclists and we use this to plan the ride and clothing. Wind chill, heat index are also very valuable. We only need it to transmit maybe 30' and this is no problem. It resets at the first of the year so yearly rainfall tally is easy to see. We live in southern AZ and in the monsoon season find that the weather at our house can be much different than just down the street. So commercial weather updates and reports usually aren't that accurate for our actual neighborhood. That makes this thing very helpful. We don't begin to use this model to it's maximum capabilities...just wanted a solid performer. This unit is much more feature-rich and user friendly than the inexpensive models. They work, too. But this is the Cadillac!

Outstanding second receiver allows me to view weather data output from the sending unit from a second location. Signal strength is outstanding. The sending unit is quite a distance from both of my receivers and I have had no issues. Highly recommend the Davis Pro2 system for those looking for a good home unit.

I need to monitor temperatures in a vineyard, especially during Frost season, and I also must have a frost alarm to see if my frost protection wind machines are working. I have 2 wireless temperature stations near the wind machines which are located more than 500 ft from my home, with intervening buildings. The pro2 console receiver for the stations is on my night stand, so there are intervening walls to interfere with the transmission of the wireless signal to my bedroom. When I purchased these products, I anticipated that I would need to purchase a solar-powered repeater because I did not believe that the signal from the stations would reach the receiver without amplification. I was wrong! The signals are constant, the temperatures at the two sites are very nearly identical which makes me believe they are accurate. Everything needed arrived. The instructions are fairly easy to understand and the technical support from Davis labs is excellent if you do not understand everything. By the way, I mounted the station on a 2 inch PVC pipe about 15 feet above the ground. This pipe was secured by placing it in a 2 1/4 inch pipe buried about 18 inches deep. This way the pipe is easily removed and laid down to access the weather station, and the heighth of the mounting permits long distance connections between the station and the receiving console. The I am very happy with this product. It was shipped without incident and some items arrived early. This is one of the best purchases I have made from Amazon.

Great to have an extra console. Display is decent with many options, but I wish the fields were more configurable. Somewhat limited on what can be displayed where. Connected easily and is working fine.

This is a great wireless weather station. When coupled with the Davis Vantage Vue ISS sensor unit, which you install outside, it gives you about all the weather information that you are likely to ever need. Examples are: the outside/ Inside temp/humidity, wind velocities, rain totals, rain rates, the heat index and/or the wind chill at any given moment and several other pieces of data. While the accompanying instruction/setup guide is very helpful, you may find the need to call the Davis Instrument folks to walk you through one or two of the set up steps. If you do need to do that, the folks at Davis are great to deal with and should have you up and running within minutes.

Three years ago I bought the Davis Weather station and two receivers (one for the master bath and one for in the kitchen). This weather station gives you everything you can think of. In fact, it beats listing to the weather on the radio. Bought this extra receiver for the study. Only one thing I could comment on to make it better... the backlighted panel should have a "toggle" switch to allow the light to stay on full time rather than time out. Of course this has nothing to do with the equipments accuracy, so not that important. These are not cheap, but the quality and accuracy couldnt be better. Delivery was fast and unt packaged well. GREAT PRODUCT.

Rain indicator doesn't work. This is a second unit so I can get the data in the other room.
