Solid performance 2.5" enclosure with UASP support
== Introduction ==I have been using Transcend StoreJet 25S3 2.5″ SSD/HDD Enclosure with Seagate 500GB 5400RPM HDD on Asus RT-AC68U for 2 years. Didn’t care to review it as 5400RPM HDD does not have the chance to push its limit until now. Yup, 480GB Kingston SSDNow UV400 SSD should be able to test its SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface with UASP support. Is StoreJet 25S3 perfect as SSD enclosure? Let’s find out…== Package Content & Design ==Surprise! Yes, I keep most of the boxes of my products including Transcend StoreJet 25S3. It is still look as new even after 2 years. Basically, you will get StoreJet 25S3 enclosure, USB 3.0 cable, warranty card, quick start guide and lot of other Transcend product brochures there. As for build quality, it is well made thanks to aluminum housing with solid plastic (2 black parts). And it supports 2.5 inch HDD or SSD up to 9.5 mm in height. There is a blue LED light indicator on top right just beside the USB 3.0 wording. By the way, you will need to use screwdriver to remove the screws first in order to put SSD in. Not totally tool-free here. But not a deal breaker also unless you always need to chance hard drive. For me, I opened no more than 10 times in 2 years here. One Touch Auto-Backup button is located just besides USB 3.0 port. You can use Transcend Elite software to enable express synchronization of files and folders to PC by just one touch. Will cover Transcend Elite software in the future.== Performance Result ==I know that Transcend StoreJet 25S3 has no problem to provide maximum transfer rate on 5400RPM HDD. Yup, it sure does here. How about SSD performance? Is UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol) able to do so now? Let’s below benchmark results tell you…Again, UASP sure does its job well here. It manages to push 480GB Kingston SSDNow UV400 SSD to 418 MB/s read and 415 MB/s write in CrystalDiskMark sequential Q32T1 test. Much better result in ATTO Disk Benchmark with 456 MB/s read and 442 MB/s write. AS SSD Benchmark result is almost the same as CrystalDiskMark. But I am getting much lower reading speed in Anvil’s Storage Utilities. No idea why… By the way, feel free to check out 480GB Kingston UV400 SSD Review to find out its full potential when connect directly through SATA connection.== Advantages ==+ Fast performance with UASP support+ Excellent build quality+ Stylish design+ Ultra-portable+ Workable without the casing== Limitations ==- No tool-free design== Conclusion ==Transcend StoreJet 25S3 is a solid SSD/HDD enclosure no doubt. Loaded with UASP support to ensure the fastest performance from your SSD. And maximum performance from normal HDD.

Used to upgrade the SSD used as my C disk
Several years ago we built two computers using Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSDs as the C disks for the Win 7 Pro SP1 64-bit systems. The price of SSDs has dropped substantially so it was time to upgrade to Samsung 860 Pro 1TB SSDs. We used the Samsung-provided Data Migration software to "clone" from the old to the new SSDs. This tool runs within Windows but it is wise to quit any unnecessary processes, such as your anti virus solution, while the copy operation is in progress. The old SSD was the C disk for the running system and the new SSD was in the Transcend StoreJet enclosure - a nicely engineered product that has been easy to use. You plug it in to a USB 3 port and the software immediately determines that it contains the destination SSD, asks you a few questions, then copies the old to the new. After that you shut down your computer and swap SSDs, enter your BIOS and make sure the settings are correct, boot into Windows and enjoy. Note, using the Samsung software, you can copy a hard disk to an SSD.As said above we have two systems to upgrade. The Transcend is built well enough to reuse it. The only weakness is a spacer for SSDs that has some adhesive. Adhesives don't like being pulled apart and reused. My guess is that the spacer simply isn't necessary for one-shot usages such as disk cloning.I really like this product and was fascinated by the small electronic component that does all the heavy lifting. My parting suggestion to you is go slow when disassembling the Enclosure, inserting your disk (2.5" or an SSD, not 3.5"), and buttoning everything up. No need to use much force. In fact the only trick is to make sure everything lines up properly and that isn't much of a trick.

Easy to setup
It was easy to setup., I used a 500gb Samsung SSD. I cloned my MacOS to the SSD and I use it to boot up my 2013 iMac. And it really boots up faster!

Great Product and Durable
I love this enclosure model. In fact, I've bought 5 of these already and never had problems connecting to any computer. It even works on my TV. I used them to house a few laptop hard drives which I took out from my some laptops after replacing them with SSDs. The product is sleek unlike other enclosures that may be shorter but thicker. The body is aluminum so you don't have to worry crushing it when placed inside a bag or even your pocket. Just don't drop it though unless it's an SSD inside it.

This is a high quality enclosure, down to its ...
This is a high quality enclosure, down to its accessories—the USB cable is thicker than usual, and even the screwdriver has a magnetic tip and free spinning cap! I thought all the layers of padding (inner rubber, plastic shell, outer rubber) might cause temperature problems, but the disk temperature seems about the same as with a normal plastic enclosure. The only downside is that it costs twice as much as other enclosures (including some other “rugged” enclosures).

It works as it should - Perfectly!!
I discovered this Transcend StoreJet USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure by watching a video I found on Y-O-U-T-U-B-E which led me to Amazon to purchase it as I had purchased an SSD from Amazon to put in it to use on an iMac I have recently purchased here on Amazon. I followed the instructions to install High Sierra OS to the Crucial 500GB SSD I placed into the enclosure and placed it behind the center metal stand holding up the monitor/computer to boot from it and keep the original 7200 RPM HD inside the iMac to store files onto. It was a great idea so that's what I did and now boot time for the iMac OS is very quick and not a problem with the new Corsair 500MX SSD or the Transcend enclosure. It's a win/win way to go if you don't want to open your iMac to remove an internal hard drive and install your OS onto an external SSD. Again I want to thank Amazon and the vendor for making this available. It works like a charm!!Transcend StoreJet USB 3.0 External Hard Drive Enclosure (TS0GSJ25S3)
