A Unique Experience—Do Your Research First
Vibram FiveFingers are a fascinating option for barefoot-style running, but I recommend doing some background reading on the risks and benefits of barefoot running before committing either way. The shoes feel stable, though water easily seeps in through the breathable upper. My first run was uncomfortable, resulting in inter digital blisters, but I noticed my gait had adapted almost immediately, which was impressive to see. After that initial adjustment, the shoes became very comfortable. They’re definitely worth a try if you’re open to the barefoot running experience and willing to ease into it gradually. They are now my “go-to” running shoes and people are not awkward around them.

Amazing shoes
These shoes are just amazing. Although they are barefoot shoes they have a rugged feel to them. This does not detract from the barefoot experience in any way. I now wear these as my primary daily shoe and my feet thank me for it. If you're on the fence about trying them, just do it. You and your feet can thank me later.

Don't last very long
I've been running these shoes for almost exactly a year and a half and I can say they are your run of the mill barefoot shoes from Vibram Fivefingers. Good grip, construction etc. However, the failure point of this particular pair of Fivefingers is the fact that the top lace holes do not include metal eyelets, causing the seude-like material to wear out and break very quickly - for me they began to break around half a year ago, long before the soles were showing any signs of needing replacement.Of course the solution to this is either using metal eyelets or fabric loops that you see in their other products, but this was overlooked. So, avoid this product if you want to be using them for a long time.

No seams please!
Unlike any other Five Finger I have worn, these new V-Trail's have a seam that runs from between the big toe diagonally toward the end of the big toe metatarsal, merging with the sole moulding more or less over the ball of the foot by the sesamoid. On my feet, this seam rubs very badly - in my case creating a deep cut on my right foot and a more minor blister slightly further toward my mid-foot on my left foot. This after a six mile run.By way of contrast, my first pair of V-Trail 1.0's were (through bad planning on my part) worn new out of the box for a trail marathon and gave me no problems whatsoever either then or subsequently.Depending on what I'm training for, I run between 90 and 180 trail miles a month - sockless - in Five Fingers and this is the first pair in over 10 years that I've ever had a comfort issue with.I'm a UK 9.5 and the 43's usually fit me perfectly - these however are also very cramped over the tips of the big toes in particular. The 44's are unfortunately too big for me, even with socks. In terms of positives, it is great that Vibram have finally attempted to address the durability of the toe fabric by incorporating reinforced bands to stop the sides of the toe boxes wearing through, but given that they are now unwearable I'm not personally going to be able to find out how successful this new feature actually is.In summary, the end result of the revised design is very disappointing - guess I'll have to wear something else while I wait and see if the next version of the V-Trail's are actually wearable....

Comfortable and warm
Changed to these after wearing merrel barefoot for a number of years, pleased to have made the change. I recommend you break these in around the house before your first run.Took them out today in -3degrees and snow, no issues with cold feet, no socks.Very comfortable to wear, only drawback was no rock plate so felt the ruts in the ground. Minor boggle though as the ground was frozen and ordinarily will wear them over soft muddy ground. If you’re thinking about these i recommend you take the plunge, I also bought the v run’s and live those as much for road running.Word of caution, if you’ve never run barefoot/mimnimal take the transition slowly.

With great power, great responsibility
Barefoot shoes are wonderful. They force you to be light on your feet and to try and enjoy running - hopping between rocks and tip toe between roots - but we careful go lightly slowing and softly
