Sturdy and Authentic Military-Style Canteen Cup
I bought this for my son, who is really into anything military, and he was thrilled with it! The aluminum is lightweight but feels durable, and it has that authentic G.I. style he loves. It fits perfectly with a standard canteen and is great for camping, hiking, or just adding to his collection. He’s already used it for heating water over a small campfire, and it held up great. Definitely a solid purchase for anyone who appreciates military gear!

A plastic GI canteen will not fit in this cup.
A complete waste of money. Weak and thin-walled construction. Not compatible with a GI canteen. The Cub Scouts would classify this as unfit for service.

“Not so fast Pilgrim”
This is actually a very good aluminum canteen cup and not only just what I wanted, but needed as well.“In this day and age” (how many times have you heard or said that line), I’m totally amazed that people don’t read the reviews on items that they blindly buy (I guess that they are too busy getting ready to go out and protest something because they got there feelings hurt).🤷♂️🤦♂️I’ve never had a problem with this type of handle latch not holding and I wonder if the people didn’t have it attached securely/properly from the get go.Like one gentleman said, the USGI aluminum as well as the Rothco aluminum canteens will nest in this cup, plus the USGI cups never had a lid that I’m aware of.I make my own lids from a $3 to $4 heavy duty aluminum turkey basting pan at the big discount chain that starts with a w and ends with a, l, m, a, r, t.They’re simple and cheap to make, but I’m sure that some of you rocket surgeons will end up in an emergency room somewhere because you cut yourself while making the lid, so don’t try it at home without a whambulance parked in front of your home.“…and that’s all I got to say about that”*** Weeks later Addendum:I got so excited writing the above that I forgot to mention a very important fact,a USGI military issue canteen cup “STOVE” will nest over this cup as well. Also and by what research I’ve done, aluminum cookware got a bad rap in flawed research. If you eat in a restaurant, chances are that some or all of your food was cooked in an aluminum something. But there’s always that chance you may get one of elusive California cancers by eating out of aluminum a few times a year when camping.🤦♂️***I Have More To Say***The Rothco “1 Quart” USGI “aluminum canteen” nests in this cup perfectly. The ones that are too large are probably“1 Liter” canteens.I had to learn this, the old fashioned way, simply by trial and error. The Rothco “stainless steel” cups and canteens are a different size than their aluminum ones and a 1 Liter canteen will nest in the SS cup.***The only stove that I have found that nests perfectly over the Rothco aluminum canteen cup *with the folding handle* is an *orignal USGI issue” stove that you can find on Amazon, but it must be an original USGI issue stove, which is a military surplus item.***Warning USGI “style” anything does not equate to an original USGI issue anything.

Not GI Stainless Steel
Oz's and up to Lbs and this is much lighter to carry than Stainless steel. You can still boil water in it so it works. Unit comes sized to match alm canteen so you will need to push/power form it to any of the ABS/Plastic canteens. Cup stand/stove fits nicely and the entire rig is easily contained in Nylon canteen cover. Handle makes this easier to hold over fire than new butterfly wings. It will not last as long and it dents easier, but it's still usefull.

Too small for a Vietnam Era Plastic Canteen
This is too small for a standard US canteen.

Great weight!! Handle is amazing
Im highly satisfied with my purchase! The appearance is great and the handle makes it easy to take away from a fire or out of bed of a burned down fire. I'd Also recommend the jolmo Canteen stove qnd using a Esbit or wetfire cubes. They can boil your soups or Water for a dehydrated meal or whatever you may need to boil or cook in a Canteen pot. Some conjecture says Aluminum can turn toxic if too highly heated. but an Esbit or wet fire cubes won't couse that IMO. Great product!! Highly recommend for ulrra light weight. Only 0.38oz and the handle makes it extremely easy to lift out of or away from a fire.

POS
This is a very cheap version of a US GI canteen cup. The handle is so crappy it won't lock into place, Not a Rothco product as there is nothing on it that says Rothco, just a sticker that proudly proclaims MADE IN CHINA. The Rothco canteen cup lid doesn't fit this POS either. It is smaller that the GI cup, doesn't fit into the GI cup stove either.

NOT ORIGINAL SPECS
This canteen cup will only fit a Chinese Rothco aluminum canteen. It is not built to original specs, it's made very cheaply in comparison to the real deal, and it won't fit the COMMON 1 qt canteen. If I bought the Rothco setup, I'd still only give it 2 stars. It's flimsy, the edge of it lip isn't rounded and will catch on a canteen carrier. I have no doubt the rivets will leak after several attempts at cooking with it. This isn't even worth the time, effort, and resources to return it back...I'll just make it into a dog food travel container.
