Perfect
As soon as I got my Tama Superstar Classic, I knew I wanted this head for my snare, as I've used it many times before. I can say that it's one of my favorite snare heads hands down. I think it's perfect for Tama snares, which are known for being deep. It's durable, sounds incredible, and keeps the snare sound focused. That said, I don't think it's perfect for all applications or genres. The controlled sound reverse power dot is great for rock, metal, and alternative, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for jazz, fusion, or country. It might choke snares 5" deep or less. Years ago I put one on my 14x5 PDP snare and it sounded dead and flat. Thus, I would do some research and watch snare head tests to decide which snare head is right for you. Overall, this is one of Remo's best heads and it's worth every penny.

Great head. Ideal for modern genres.
Fantastic for rock, metal, pop, funk, and most of the modern genres. It has some versatility in tunning so you can get out a couple of different sounds from it. For the most part, this head has a very solid crack. It responds well to ghost notes. The sound is deep but with a good attack. You can play in small venues without mics and it can sound pretty good. With mics, the possibilities will open even more. Not ideal for jazz unless you play with the tunning quite a bit. The sound has little sustain and doesn't quite "sing" like good jazz heads sing. It does, however, do very well with latin genres.

Remo CS batter (14 inch)
Arrived in good condition, if you’re buying this it’s probably the consistency of the head’s performance and buying this from Amazon beats driving across town to the only music store.

Great head just not for me
Not my favorite by any means but it is a good head. It has a little too much liveliness to it for my tast which is ironic because that’s what the dot is supposed to do. I like it and might buy one again if I start looking for that sound. It’s a great head just not for my snare. BTW. Snare is a solid wood Guru.

Great drumhead!
I use this Remo Controlled Sound on a couple of my snare drums. The added dot provides a more focused sound and durability.

Best of both worlds
This is the best drumhead from Remo. Not so thin as a normal CS and not as thick as a double ply. You can tune your drum very low since it's a single ply head, but it's not gonna sound thin at all.

The controlled sound heads are great to begin with but the X version being slightly thicker is fantastic for a 12" snare. Very focused mids and great control of unwanted overtones

Great quality but heavier than I like
This Remo head is high-quality but this particular model is heavier than I like. If you don't want a really heavy-duty, thick sounding head, look at a different model.
