love this!
i worked in restaurants & bars for yrs & recently thought about getting one of these to run across the width of the front of my double kitchen sink to help w/water getting on my shirts while washing dishes. one of my better decisions, ha. it works great! plus it gives me a place to set my soapy wet sponge during washing dishes & it is also a great water drippage area to keep it from getting all over me or the counter. then i can easily rinse it off as needed. plus it is a great place to place a glass or cup to fill a drink or even a shot glass for mixing drinks or even for setting something like an egg when getting it out of the fridge & i use it regularly as a place to rest vegetables once rinsed before drying off. & also it is a bit of a cushion rest for my elbows or etc if needed while doing dishes. highly recommend. very multi-purpose. only reason i gave it a 4 is because it was shipped folded over in the middle & it created a seemingly permanent crease on both sides in the middle that bulge out & could cause a bit of water leakage ... but not a huge issue so far.

Great for bartenders
Fantastic. Super durable and flexible quality rubber. Catches inevitable cocktail spills. I also used it while hand carving presentation ice and it works super well for catching icemelt as you work. You could also use it to dry extra dishes that don't fit in the dish rack. Very mild rubber smell when it first came, but the smell completely dissipated after a few days. It's pretty big so although others say that you can put it in the dishwasher it might not be a good use of space. I just rinse it off and throw it in the drying rack after each use, soaking it with soap in the sink overnight if it gets gross. Every amateur bartender should have one.

A professional mat for your at-home cocktail bar!
This is a heavy duty black rubber bar professional service bar mat. I purchased it for when we have dinner parties. It adds a nice touch to our makeshift cocktail bar area. The nubs keep keep our gear from slipping and the depth keep small spills off our hardwood buffet. We have been asked on more than one more occasion to reveal which local bar we swiped it from. [[ASIN:B00B1U99QE New Star Foodservice 48421 Rubber Bar Service Mat, Standard 18-Inch by 12-Inch Size, Black] It is easy to clean, we just use the hose on our sink. It dries quickly. I would buy more if I needed then, but I suspect this will last us a lifetime. It is a high quality bar mat!

“If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!”
As a barista two of these strips fit perfectly for the space we had available for our shakers. We had them previously eventually replacing them after much use only to find a much larger mat.

Good size for the home bar
Very extremely useful to catch spills and splashes at the home bar, plus it protects glassware from damage by hitting my granite counter. Yes, there is some rubber smell in the new product, but it dissipates if you leave it in the open air. After several days, the smell is no longer noticeable.I didn't want to leave it out all the time, so where to store it? It is rigid enough to stand on its edge, so i was able to store it on the side of a handy cabinet, taking up next to no room.

Not what I expected
The rubber mat is not straight and the sides look bent in several spots. I expected it to be straight like the picture on the site.

Stop buying cat litter mats, for the love of god
When I think about all the companies making a killing off of stupid overpriced "cat litter mats," which are essentially just some form of textured rubber, I get really pissed off. Especially when stuff like this exists, which works twice as well, is twice as sturdy (to overzealous kitty claws), and takes up half the space. For a third of the price. My cats don't mind stepping on this at all. Sometimes they roll around on it and let the little rubber nubs massage them. Also, the nubs prevent the scattered litter from being re-tracked and also releases litter stuck between their toes when they step on it.

Get one!
For years I've used the traditional dish rack and drain pan - what a hassle. I've owned this for a couple months now, and love this thing. I wish I'd thought of buying one sooner. I like that it can be disinfected regularly and it offers about the same amount of room for my typical load of dishes (buy a larger one if you need the space). I was fed up with spending $50 on "stainless steel" racks that soon left rust marks on my dishes, and then used up precious space in my tiny kitchen when stored. I place my mat so that dishes can be leaned up against my KitchenAid mixer, and the plates are "grabbed" by the mat surface while the rest of the dishes fit around them. The mat is very tough and a bit heavy - very good quality, and I highly recommend. You may also notice a bit of a rubbery odor at first, but it does subside after time. If it bothers you, try soaking it in dish soap for a few hours. The odor does not transfer to the clean dishes, either.
