âLife Could Be Both Beautiful And Brutalâ
Liking this authorâs work, I was happy to see I was not hampered by the fact I havenât read the first books in the series. Chloe Fine is an interesting and well developed character, a young FBI Agent, with a fascinating backstory. She has a sister, Danielle, who has major issues, and the two of them have a messed-up relationship. Chloe is lusting after her partner, Agent Moulton, but she also has issues from a (kind of) recent break-up. They are assigned a vicious murder case out of DC in small town America. If you like to diagnose psychological problems, youâll have plenty of opportunity. The suspense and investigative processes are okay, but the surprises and twists to the storyline are top notch! Chloe comes across as very human, not so much a hero type FBI Agent, which is refreshing. A quick, entertaining read. The ending is sudden and quite surprising, not really a cliffhanger, but more of a set-up for the next book, which doesnât come out till July 2019! Say it isnât so........

Too Much Like Book 2, Lots Going On, No Depth!
This third installment fell flat, had little character development, and followed a superficial plotline. Ugh!This FBI procedural was mildly entertaining at best, as more time is spent on Chloe's backstory of family and love interests that the murder she's supposed to be solving plays a supporting role. Chloe's character still lacks depth and interest as we follow her disorganization and overreactions to everything going on in her life.I don't care for cliffhanger questions not answered until the next book that feel more like a soap opera than a meaningful investigative series. These are short novels that feel strung out, without enough substance amid so much distracting activity.Chloe's first-person account might be okay for a mindless and forgettable read, but I'm not sensing anything really new here. I bought the whole series as a package deal and halfway through the six books, I'm feeling lots of buyer's remorse. Ugh!I fear these short reads follow a formulaic structure of repetition and worn out plotlines. The storytelling nears mediocrity with surprise trick endings to the murders that get tied up too quickly, so we can get back to the underlying family drama.I've got three more books to go, and I'm hoping for something more substantial and less redundant. This book gets a C- rating, or 2.5 stars.Audible's narration helped make my reading experience more bearable. Whew!

Disappointed...but rated as a fair read
The theme and plot was pretty good. My issue was with the misspelled words, the grammar and the use of the wrong characters name. In one sentence the author indicated that Chloe was with her partner Moulton instead of her partner Rhoads. I wanted to put the book down several times because I felt as though the author dropped the ball on his professional writing. Needless to say, I did enjoy the continued Chloe Fine theme and the plot was good. It kept my attention and I was able to move beyond the misspellings, grammatical errors and the naming of the wrong characters last name.

Editing
Iâm enjoying this series. The characters and story line is great. My complaint with these books is the editing. Doesnât anybody read them before going to print? The mistakes are easy to gloss over but we pay for these books and I guess my standards are higher.

Psychological page turner
Wealthy neighborhoods aren't what they appear to be. Chloe finds herself wrapped up in lies and mystery. As in the books in this series she doesn't miss a clue, intelligent, finds her life at risk, and her past haunts her. An exciting series. Read and become hooked yourself.

A great read, for sure.
I've become a big fan of the Chloe Fine books by Blake Pierce. I enjoy seeing how he develops a character and give her a history as well as a personality that evolves and matures book by book.

Reunion
Chloe is as good as ever in this book. She keeps you on your toes and you can feel her thoughts and emotions. There are a couple places after her partner was replaced where they mixed up names and for a second was confusing but easy to realize what happened.

Love his books. Would like more conclusions
I love all Blake pierces books but you really have to read the whole series or you end up with to many questions. You end up continuity reading his books to get some conclusions.i guess thatâs his way of selling more books.

Fantastic
As this series of books progress the psychological aspects of its main characters progress along side the individual story of each book.In a rich clique neighbourhood murder occurs. Is it tied to the husband and something from present day or is tied to their past. The murder occurs just after a school reunion and the cliques from school are still in evidence today no matter how hard they try to hide it. Through in the Fine sister's father who had just been released from prison for being involved in their mother's murder and you have a book that keeps you reading till the end and still wanting more

Enjoying the series, not enjoying the typos đ
Wondering where it all leads for Chloe.Enjoying her cases and family life. The typos, although not as many as previous book, are still frustrating.
