Otterbox HTC M8 Defender Series Case - Retail Packaging - Black

Bought this to protect our work phone which goes to construction sites.Love how it keeps the phone from getting dinged up when someone drops it.It is pretty easy to install on the phone and fits perfect.Only issue was that the protective screen was not included in my box. We were going to get a RMA and get another one but then the guy who uses it said he can read the phone a lot better without the screen! So... we decided to keep it this way. We do have insurance on the phone so if the screen were to get damaged we are covered. Another deciding factor was that we have not ever dropped anything on the screen or banged the screen so... we think it will be just fine without the missing part. I do not recommend others follow suite, it is just what we decided and therefore it plays no part on us not loving the OtterBox Defender Case. In the event, you too were to not receive a part of the case, please let them know immediately and get it exchanged.

Great case. You'll get some phantom taps if you're used to a non shielded screen, but that comes with the territory of a plastic covering and not an adhesive cover. Massive improvement over the standard htc "case" that they give you in the store. Overall very sturdy, impact resistant, and sports a heavy rubber cover. The only problem that I have is just the nitpic of the double tap issue.. I can't say I would buy any other case if I had the chance at this price point however.

I originally wrote a far different review when I first received the product, but my views have changed since using the case. Out of the box you get your typical Otterbox defender, front and back hard case, rubber/silicone outer shell and clip. Immediately, if you have ever owned an otter before, you will notice the quality on this case to be very lacking compared to what is used in the Galaxy and Iphone lines, which with this being used on an equally impressive, if not more so, flagship it is disappointing.The hard case is very flimsy and only has two snap clips on both sides and 1 on top and bottom. The middles of the sides do not snap together which makes me question if you use the belt clip long term, you may actually end up breaking one of the flimsy side snaps. With the built in screen protector...peel it off out of the box. As per other reviews, it sits easily 1-2mm or more from the screen (that is for me at least and I have a Zagg tempered glass on my screen so that gap would be significantly more if you don't have a screen protector). I popped mine up with a razor blade and carefully removed it should I need to use the warranty replacement at a later time (which I suspect I will). If you leave the protector on it covers the entire front with just 2 openings for the boom speaker openings and the front camera and mic.The rubber/silicone case fits very nicely and is a much more comfortable feel than the material on my girlfriend's 5S Otter defender. It has a much more rubber feel that doesn't slide on surfaces, it feels like it would hold up well to falls (though I suspect from much height the cheap plastic used in the under hard shell would crack from even a small drop). The IR blaster is unobstructed, which unfortuantely with their design leaves a bit of the back aluminum exposed. There is no cover for the rear cameras or mic. The volume rocker has a very nice, comfortable click to it, easier to use than the uncased phone. The bottom charging port and mic has a flap that is only held in with pressure. Unlike past models where it has the cheap flaps that you push in and it "locks" in place, only to eventually completely wear out and hang open, this one is just held in with pressure to the hard case, which i suspect will allow it to last longer.Lastly, the holster is very vanilla. The clip can be snapped back to use as a kickstand, a nice gimmic I suppose but one I doubt I will use. The holster itself is I suspect a generic size that is also used for another phone. With the phone clipped into it, there is a large gap on the bottom where the phone can slide back and forth. The clip holds now, but I suspect if much use takes place it will wear quickly. I will say that the plastic used on it is VERY solid, I would feel much better if my phone fell with the holster attached than just the phone in the Otterbox itself.Overall, if you were expecting the past quality I at least had come to expect from Otterbox, you may be fairly disappointed. With that said, after taking off the crap screen protector, the case feels very comfortable in my hand and still fits in my pocket. It doesn't add too much bulk which is nice for a Defender series. Long term, it defintiely will require using the warranty replacement, but for now it is a decent case. But like I said, do yourself a favor and remove the junk screen out of the box and if I might recommend a replacement, get yourself a Zagg Tempered glass. It takes the HTC One M8 which is already a beautiful phone and really makes that screen pop. Plus, with the Otterbox, the raised Glass has a good feeling as it buts right up to the lip on the case. Fits like a glove!

Fantastic protection and not too bad on the eyes.. Otterboxs main focus is on durability and protection and they nailed it there.. The HTC One M8 is a beautiful machine itself.. one of the most visually stimulating phones well... Ever! It really is a beauty and the beast relationship.. The M8 must be protected.. And Otterbox provides.. I've had 3 Otterboxs on 3 phones in 5 years and they have all gone through heavy abuse on construction sites and being dropped all the time. The otter gas never failed.. And it is very responsive, contrary to some older reviews. Also.. This case demands respect.. No matter what they may say about the cosmetics.. Everybody knows the Otterbox...

This thing is solid. The inner case is tough and easy to hold onto, all the buttons work, charger port, camera ports etc all work great. The outer case and clip on are also very solid and do what they are supposed to do. I have not dropped the phone nor do I plan on doing so, but feel if anything can give the phone a fighting chance to survive a drop it will be this case.

A neighbor's son showed me his "Otterbox" and expressed his satisfaction with such great enthusiasm that I researched the product line and decided to make a purchase based upon that research and anecdotal experience. The construction, and quality of materials has me very pleased. The only concern I can share here is that I struggled a bit during the installation when contending with the placement of the phone within the casing and beneath the protective outer screen. If the instructions were intended as a IQ test, then I suppose I scored a little low. But, once I figured out the direction, the resulting housing remains very secure. The snap-on carrier sits a bit high, if I tuck it into a pocket. However, if worn on the belt line, it secures very snugly, leaving me confident I will not loose the phone while in motion.

After time in and out of my pocket the corners on the rubber cover stretch out and it doesn't really fit the plastic piece tightly anymore. I have wrapped a rubber band around it and that works for me. You would think they would design it a bit better. Also, the plastic screen cover isn't very tight fitting. It's pretty much guaranteed that I will have to take it apart to get lint and dirt out from under the plastic screen cover. The times I have dropped my phone, I haven't been worried about it though. it's pretty indestructible.

Protegge benissimo lo smartphone, la scocca è solida e il guscio in gomma assorbe benissimo gli urti, in più la pellicola protettiva fa il suo lavoro. Da consigliare a chi è maldestro o fa lavori/sport che mettono alla prova la resistenza degli apparecchi elettronici

Utilisateur de cette marque avec mon précédent htc, c'est naturellement que je choisis otterbox pour protéger mon nouveau htc M8.La coque est en 4 parties avec une protection d'écran. Rien à voir avec un film à appliquer soi même (avec risque de bulles).Franchement je ne regrette pas mon achat et je la recommande à toute personne désireuse de protéger son tph.
