Right Side Flush Lever Replacement Flush Valve
This item is for the RIGHT side flush handle when facing the toilet. It does NOT include the lever itself. Only the inside tank components. The part number for the LEFT side flush handle is 1208885.

This Flush Valve Part 1208883 is for Toilet with LH Lever
As others have pointed out, this valve with blue lever box is for Kohler tanks with the flushing handle on the left side when you face the toilet. With basic tools and skills, it is tedious to install but doable. Removing the old large plastic nut and rubber ring that is underneath the tank was a task and took time as the assembly was encrusted with minerals (our hard water). The rubber needed to be cut and plastic nut hack sawn, easy to do and effective. Thereafter, installation was easy peasy.

No handle
Not sure what 'unfinished' means but I'm guessing it means not complete beings it came with no handle as pictured. Had to reorder and return and hope the replacement has a handle.Update..No handle included with replacement although Amazon assured me that there would be. Called Koehler and yes the handle is an extra cost. Turns out the one ordered (both) was for a right flush handle. When is the last time you saw one of those ? Nothing in the product description is mentioned of this besides the handle is being shown as part of this contraption. I converted this nightmare back to the tried and true flapper design. A five dollar part and a one minute job instead of pulling the tank and fifty dollars of frustration. Why reinvent the wheel. Besides they state the refund time is 30 days.

Handle different
Had to use original handle assembly. I was able to dissamble original saay and attach wire from the new one to the old, worked fine.

No instructions on handle/gearbox install, thread on handle not formed (Molded) completely
So I had a dual flush, split handle Kohler toilet. The low flush handle was sagging and didn't work. I couldn't find adjustment or trouble shooting information online. I decided just to purchase the flush valve kit.The flush valve canister was easy in easy out, note it lines up about 60 degrees out from the original but works. Went to connect the box to the existing handle and no matter how I tried, it would screw on. I looked at the molded threads and they were incompletely molded. (I worked in plastic +25 years).Note: the manual that comes with the kit, doesn't even talk about the flush handle gearbox. Well, I wasn't going to take everything back apart, so I disconnected the cable from the new one and attached to the old one. The box attached fine. However, the handle is sagging again, a little less and works, but a good 1/2 " low. Oh, I did call Kohler, yeah, they don't work weekends, which is a shame since most people do their house maintenance / repairs on the weekend.Because of a quality defect, we paid for something that didn't fix the problem.

It works very well and as advertised.
With this kit: the TANK MUST BE REMOVED TO TAKE OLD PARTS OUT AND INSTALL THE PARTS ON MY 5 YEAR OLD KOHLER DUAL FLUSH 1.1 GALLON 1.6 GALLON HOME DEPOT kOHLER HIGH CHAIR STYLE. TOTAL TIME TO REMOVE OLS INSTALL NEW WAS 30 mINUTES.

Flush handle was backwards vs my toilet BUT I just used old flusher
Installed fine, but doesn't tell you that the orientation of the flush handle vs. perhaps older/other flush handles may be different, so the mechanism was mirrored and wouldn't flush on the toilet I have. However, the flush handle mechanism is easy to swap with the original, so I did so.

It DOES come with the Blue Box!
This was exactly what I needed to fix a toilet tank I thought I was going to have to replace. We inadvertently had snapped a piece off the bottom where the seal is and Kohler told me if I replaced this unit I my problem would be solved. I am confused by the way other reviewers have reviewed this. They all say it doesn't come with the little blue gear box but it DOES! And I called Kohler before I bought this and they said they all come with that as an entire unit. Second this is for toilets with the flushing handle on the LEFT as you FACE the tank. If you are sitting on the toilet the flush handle is on your right, if you stand up facing the tank to repair it, the handle is on your left. Had I relied in the reviews here I would have thought the opposite. If you have questions, call Kohler, they have great customer support.

What to know
Be aware this unit is designed for a toilet with the lever on the side of the tank not the corner or the face. The flush handles rotates clockwise when flushing. The interior mechanism is identical except for the interior control, cable & the receiver going to the flush lever. I managed to swap out the new one forthe original when I miss ordered the unit. Note that the top cover is not intended to be removed after being snapped into place so some effort is required. Otherwise everything is as required. It may be worthwhile to unscrew the interior mechanism in the tank (clockwise) for cleaning or adjustment before replacing your old one.

Great Replacement
I waited too long to install and discovered I ordered the wrong side for flushing. I ended up using the SS cable on the old unit and now have these extra parts for the future. Be sure to order the proper side.

Incomplete - No handle, no flush
It took a while to get to this install, but when I did, the handle was not included in the package. Very disappointing. I will try to get the missing pieces sent by Kohler, but I’m not holding out hope. This seems to have happened to several other folks who made the same order. If I get the pieces I need to make it work, I’ll update my review.
