Expensive, But High Quality 1 c Scoop
The most important part of this review (at least to me) is that this scoop's capacity is 1 cup, according to the attached tag that comes with it. This is important since, at least at the time I ordered it, that capacity is not explicitly stated in the product detail. (Also this "medium" scoop Stainless Steel Scoop, Medium is 1/2 c and this "small" scoop RSVP Stainless Steel Scoop Small 1/4 cup NEW is 1/4 c.) I, personally, was having a very hard time imagining the size based on the "9 inch" descriptor that was all that was available at the time I bought this.Yes, this is a very pricy scoop, and I was hesitant to buy because of that, but after looking locally and not finding what I wanted/needed, I took a gamble and I'm glad I did. Yes, it's expensive, but it feels like it should be. It's heavy (literally), and heavy duty, and appears as if it will last a lifetime. No weld marks or other blemishes, on the perfectly smooth, highly glossed surface. Washes beautifully in the dishwasher (first thing I did) and has a round, comfortable handle with a loop on the end for hanging, if desired. Handle is also firmly attached (entire scoop and handle is one piece) and solid.Perfect for scooping dry goods--narrow enough to fit into even the skinniest canister opening--or even pet food (especially if you want/need to control serving size), I actually ended up ordering two more after my initial purchase.I actually purchased it to dispense dog food in stable increments, but ended up buying the additional two to replace the even more expensive All-Clad measuring scoops I've used for years for flour and sugar. This handle is just much, much more comfortable to use and the "height" of the scoop's sides make it feel easier to dip and scoop cleanly and precisely.

My New Baking Best Friend
This 1/2 cup scoop is the perfect size to dig into the corners of a 5 lb. flour bag--and all kinds of other containers, too. Myself, I'm a big fan of the famous "No-Knead Bread Recipe" that appeared in the New York Times a couple years back ([...] -- or search Google for "no-knead bread recipe" for lots of variations), and w/ this one tool I can do the whole job: measure ingredients--obviously flour before the water, and two quick 1/2 cup scoops is just as fast as leveling a regular 1 cup measure. Then here's the great part: the scoop is plenty sturdy to also serve as the mixing spoon, AND it is nicely shaped, as well, to scrape around the insides of the bowl to pull everything in. No rubber spatula needed. And obviously clean-up is a snap.Storage is at a premium in my kitchen with no room for specialized single-chore gadgets. Every single item has to earn it's space by virtue of good design, multiple uses, and dead-easy clean-up. This scoop handily makes it on all three counts and reduces bread-baking gear to a mere 3 items: a bowl, the scoop & either a pan or a baking stone (depending on the shape of loaf) and that's it! I am assuming you are confident enough of your kitchen skills to guess for the 1/4 teaspoon yeast and the teaspoon of salt; the recipe is remarkably forgiving, in any case, and after a few times you'll have your own feel for it.What makes this scoop so good is the solid quality of its construction and the thoughtful simplicity of it's design. Neither a round nor a square measure is nearly as adaptable for so many uses. It comes in 1-cup and 1/4-cup sizes, too, but I think the 1/2-cup is the most useful and makes the other two sizes excess clutter. On the other hand, if you have a huge kitchen, and like Martha Stewart, you have a team of assistants trailing behind you doing clean-up, then by all means go for all three. And if you haven't already heard about that no-knead bread, do give it try. Although it might take a couples of batches to totally get the feel of it down, I think you'll be amazed how easy it is to turn out great homemade bread with an absolute minimum of effort.

Perfect Ice Scoop
It's been difficult finding the right ice scoop. Some are way too big or too long, some are cheap plastic or inferior quality aluminum, and some had the right size scoop but with a ridiculously short handle. This medium stainless steel scoop is perfect for me. It's got a very nice weight to it, making it feel solid and not made cheaply. It's very smooth and shiny. The handle and the scoop are the perfect size for scooping up enough ice for a glass. It's 9 inches in total length, the scoop is 4.75 inches long, and the handle is 3.5 inches long with another 0.75 inch hook on the end. The scoop is 1.5 inches deep at its deepest point, and 2.25 inches at its widest point. The scoop holds exactly 1/2 cup when leveled. I debated about buying it because it was over twice the cost of similar scoops. I'm very glad I bought it. It's clearly a superior product well worth the price. It will probably last for many years.

Sturdy, great finish but a bit less than 1/4 cup volume
This is the 1/4 cup scoop. Overall I like it very much for my needs as a scoop rather than a precise measuring cup.Pros:An excellent mirror finishExceptionally sturdy, the handle does not bend easilyPointed oval design works well to dig material out of wide-mouth mason jars.Cons:Less than 1/4 cup volume, more like 0.228 cups. Checked by weighing water in the full spoon. 1ml water = 1gram. I was only able to add 54g of water before it spilled over the level rim. For a true 1/4c it should have taken 59g.The handle while smooth has a sharpish edge. It won't cut you, but it's not comfortable to grip tightly for very long. Maybe use a silicone pot handle cover for added comfort?

Sturdy
This is a strong scoop the handle is a little long for leaving in containers. And it is hard eyeball smaller amounts in the one scoop but putting all that aside this is good scoop.
