Crossroads: A Popular History of Malaysia and Singapore

This is a great introduction about Singapore's history, culture, and mindset. It is a great read for anyone traveling or wanting to learn how they have progressed so far in a short amount of time. It also points out some of the challenges they have ahead.

Book is pretty good, especially early on with the descriptions of the different colonial periods and how they shaped Malaysia. The 20th and 21st century history sections were less interesting and focused almost exclusively on political history, whereas a broader view that also considered significant individuals (in business, etc.) and their stories might have been more engaging.

Simple,concise and to the point history of malaysia , singapore and Borneo early times to today : an easy quick read

This book well portrays a history that is focal to the region, perhaps not as removed as others to the region, and it perhaps provides a good background understanding of the region.

Very interesting reading if you want to know something about the history of Malaysia. The book is well written, entertaining, rich of information and easily understandable.

I am only 1/3 through it, but so far really good. Interesting, well written. Written from a western pov i'd say, which makes sense to me.

Great book. I really liked the early history and the modern history. The 70s and 80s read like a political party and politician soup at times.

Insightful history. Very readable and easy to follow, but with plea of details to paint the full picture and discuss the complex issues involved.
