Having owned several kitchen thermometers in the past, I was looking to buy one that was a bit more robust, I wanted one that was accurate, had a long enough probe, an easy to read display and a relatively quick response time. My last digital thermometer was so flimsy the probe bent and broke and the one before was destroyed by battery leakage only a few months after I bought it and the one before that could be as much as 15 degrees off and took too long to get a final reading.Although the very tip of the probe is thin and therefore the device is more responsive, beware of thermometers where the entire probe is very thin as they are more prone to failure. The probe on this thermometer is quite sturdy. When I tested it's calibration in boiling water and water/crushed ice mixture, it was accurate to within 0.1 degree which is phenomenal. The display is large enough and dark enough to read with ease and the temperature reading stabilizes in seconds. The probe cover protects the probe very well and can be snapped onto the top of the thermometer to act as an extension, it is tight fitting though so you have to give it a good tug to remove it. The Max hold temp feature is great when using the extension allowing you to remove the probe from the item you are measuring and bring it up to eye level to read without loosing the reading!Given that I don't drop the entire thermometer into food I am measuring and don't pick up the device with food or grease all over my hands, cleanup is real easy - you just need to wipe off the probe or use a soapy sponge over it followed by a brief rinse. The fact that it is waterproof is a plus in case water splashes onto the device itself or if you really need to wipe it off with a wet sponge but I don't see why one would need to put it into the dishwasher to clean it and would not recommend it.All in all I am very pleased with it's performance thus far, it is easy to use, easy to clean and accurate.

My purchase arrived this morning. It was perfect timing for my steak. The reading was very accurate and fast. I inserted the probe1/4" in the center exactly mentioned. Love the perfect pocket size. Very handy to carry.

I am so very happy with this thermometer. I have utilized it for soups, stews, meat, and candy such as fudge for the holiday season. It tested at an acceptable calibration when I got it and it tests quickly. The thermometer is a bit short for thick roasts, but works fine on poultry and steaks. This unit has withstood being dropped a few times.It is able to be calibrated and is not difficult to handle. It fits inside my pocket for all kitchen work. Worth the price I paid.

Not quite as fast as I'd hoped. About six seconds gets it close, but it can still change a whole degree from there.That said, I love this thing! The cover latches on tight as a handle extension, and so far it's proven to be waterproof enough to wash it! The hole it makes is fairly small, which as a side benefit means I don't scoot my food around the grill while trying to penetrate it. Most importantly, I trust it! I had to chuck my old cheapie thermometer because I just didn't have confidence in it.I would buy it again (or at least start it near the top of any re-evaluations). It's a safe bet for the price, easy to wash and use, reasonably fast... I am picky, shopped very carefully, and am satisfied.

Really works. It is easy to use. It says it is waterproof which is important.

The thermometer works just fine, fairly quick, but the plastic cover which also serves as the handle when you clip it to the end, has a pieces which breaks off leaving you with a short handle. And then the cover goes missing because it will not stay attached. Probably best used at home, I work in a restaurant so it gets used a lot.

This thermometer is the one to get. I purchased one before from a restaurant supply house and when I brought it to the counter the staff told me it is their most popular thermometer. It is fast, accurate, and most importantly water proof! They told me that you can just put this in the dishwasher when you're done using it if you want to.Unfortunately I accidentally broke that original thermometer I purchased from the restaurant supply store. I forgot to put the hard blue case on it, and broke the metal probe while closing a drawer one day. I went to Amazon to shop for a new thermometer, and ended up ordering a different brand that has more ratings/reviews. It has a magnet and sticks to the fridge, and has a foldable probe. The biggest disappointment about it is that it is not water proof! Total let down.Having a waterproof thermometer is worth paying just a bit extra. You don't have to worry about dropping it in a pot of water, and you can rinse it off in the sink with the rest of the dishes and utensils.

Purchased this thermometer to replace a previous one I have been using daily for years. Not only is it accurate and easy to read, it is a maximum recording thermometer that is waterproof, so very beneficial to monitor and test high temperature commercial dishwashers.

This thermometer is fast, durable and easy to use. I’ve used it in professional kitchens, and seen them get left on the griddle, and it worked even when the plastic gets melted a bit. Never put it in dishwasher, but I don’t doubt it will withstand it, the only times it died on me, was when the battery cover melted a bit and oil and water got inside. For an average Joe it will last a lifetime, in pro kitchen being exposed to hot griddles for 8h a day every day, and extreme abuse it lasted as about a year or two
