Good Movie, Great Message, Acting done well, Just fell short of.....
My husband and I liked the movie, alot. Gave it 4 stars just short of 5. Below explains. This movie falls under the Christian, Spirituality... and we take that claim seriously. The storyline on forgiveness touches many real heart wrenching topics. Displayed in the beginning is main issue and done very well. The message of restoration, forgiveness and how it not only brings healing to those forgiven, but to those that forgive is clear. The acting overall is believable and good, especially one of the lead actors, Joiner.*The minus 5th star is because as a film obviously trying to bring a Godly message, it fell short of getting the whole story of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection for all sin of mankind and through. By accepting that free gift of salvation, brings with it salvation AND THEN transformation and healing. It DOES show God changes and helps message. It just left out going that extra sentence or two, yes God, but specifically by Jesus. This can be done without preachy methods, just adding a few lines. This movie gave you part of that message where those that know Jesus would fill in that missing part, but others may not.Still a very good movie. Yes, ending can be for some predictable, but, in this type of movie it didn't affect where it was taking you.Recommend: Facing The Giants, Greater, Do You Believe, The Investigator, God's Not Dead 1&2, War Room, and for every Dad, watch Courageous.Grateful for these movies that bring positive messages without cursing and sex on screen.

Plenty of Feelings, Low on Truth
Sam Wright is a joyful, happy man. He loves his wife and children with all his heart. He loves people, and preaching is his passion. But the little church can't financially support the preacher with his family, so Sam also serves as a cop for the Memphis police force. He is surprised to be promoted to Sargent, and then immediately placed with Bill "Mac" McDonald, an angry, bitter and (don't miss it!) prejudice cop who'd rather be left alone in work and life. Mac and his wife Sara lost their first child 17 years prior, when a drug dealer ripped through their quiet street and hit their 5 year old son; when he was riding his bike. Younger son, Blake, is drowning in his father's bitterness. It has turned him off and out, and he is desperately in trouble. This movie is well acted and the scenes and emotions go straight-to-the-heart. Unfortunately, as a Christian movie, it fails terribly. While forgiveness is a vital aspect of the Christian faith, all things stem from the Bible...not a touching note from a child's pen. Pastor Sam's sermon insinuates a Bible verse, but he preaches from his gut - not from Christ's heart (the Scriptures). An ignited woman sets the congregation on fire with call and response singing so common in Black churches, but the 7/11 lyrics (7 words sung 11 times) leaves one brain-dead. When Sam turns to his loving grandfather for help, the charming old man offers advice that falls far from Biblical truth. After many twists and turns, there is a happy ending, but God is not glorified. There are tears of emotion, but not tears shed of repentance and being made new by Jesus Christ. Along with these other disappointments come some strange symbols: 3 times the Memphis pyramid (built to be a sports arena now a Bass Pro circus), a cupid face with wings (on the wall) and a brass pine cone (on a shelf) are all focused on with real intent. So? - Someone asks. So, these 3 things are occult symbols, which are of current meaning and interest to those involved in the occult. Why is a "Christian" movie promoting occult symbols? Why does a "Christian" movie hype the feel-good, but avoid the Scriptures? Without the Scriptures there is no grace that is spoken of so freely here. This "Christian" movie is too low on truth to be worth it. Plus the loud, obnoxious music at beginning and end is certain to leave you with a migraine, if nothing else does.

Fantastic message in this movie, MUST WATCH!!
This movie has some hard to watch moments of sadness and anger and frustration, but the message of the movie is simple and profound all at once and it has lessons that everyone needs to understand! I use it for my High school Bible class as part of my curriculum every year!

GREAT AND POWERFUL - GRACE & FORGIVENESS
In the beginning of the movie, I thought that this may be too nuch racism for me. I'm worn out with these kinds of pictures, even tho I know racism still exist today. I hear and see. When the two cops were pared together, I said, boy this is going to be too much. But I saw the demure and peaceful attitude of the Black cop/pastor and I knew he would make a change in this man who had so much hatred in him against Blacks, because one killed his son. This was a great and powerful movie, and I was not disappointed at all about the whole movie. The end was even more powerful and it will make you shed a few tears. Lou Gossett was great in this movie. I just love him. He always brings so much righteousness to a movie and his characters.GREAT MOVIE MADE. I JUST WISH AMAZON HAD IT 2 BUY. I LIKE TO KEEP MOVIES LIKE THIS IN MY COLLECTION. Saw it on christian website. Will have to buy from them.I don't know why Amazon don't give you a choice to rent or buy the movie on a DVD as others. I don't want to download, I want DVD.This is truly a 5*****, even a 10*****.

Such a good movie
I might be bias, as most Christian movies are a little crappy with subpar actors and wimpy screen writing. But my uncle did a great job π. This had all the feels and reality of what life is like. Based with good faith, and clean.

Excellent
This is hard-hitting on many fronts - in the kindest possible ways. Absolutely recommend. How many men have secret hurts that they don't know how to deal with? How many women are caught in marriages where the husband is incredibly bitter and unloving because he can't deal with his own 'issues'? How many Christian workers are frustrated because they don't SEE any progress or fruit from their ministries? How many kids are growing up in semi-Christian homes where the rows just push them away from both faith and the family? How many people's pride keeps them from personal happiness?Never mind the race issues; this is a must-watch Christian film, which deals frankly what it really means to 'follow Christ'. The story is well-scripted, extremely well-acted and even if some of the plot is a little predictable in places, there is a must-watch that keeps one gripped from beginning to end. We didn't move till we'd seen all the bonus material as well! After watching it ourselves, we bought 5 copies for others. Need I say more?!

Essential Viewing for this Age
This is one of a series of Christian films released in recent times which are excellent in every respect: Powerful storylines, professional acting and top-quality production. This particular movie deals with an aspect of faith which is being emphasised throughout Christian society today: the Grace of God, and the need for Forgiveness on our part. It's not a simplistic plot, but complex and at times painful. Every Christian, and many others, would benefit from seeing it.

Very very good film
I like the entire concept of the film. My husband and I plus the rest of the group that watched it have decided that we will recommend it to our Church. What an eye opener. This is what love should be and what it is all about. It also shows to the entire human race that we need one another. Our colours may be different from the outside but everything else in the inside is the same. That was why I moved when the little girl said to her mum, "mum, how can a black person's kidney work in a white person's body? The answer she gave was excellent. Please buy this film it will change you view or perception about life and the love of God.

A BEAUTIFUL FILM
I found this to be a beautiful and thought provoking story about how anger and hate can burn you up and make life hard for your family and friends.A previous reviewer stated "Christ" was never mentioned, however the word Christian was mentioned several time. As many of the scenes involved the Police Officer who was also a part-time Pastor and involved his church and the services he gave I find that complaint rather ludicrous.I enjoyed the film very much and also the many extras of how it was made.Well done to all involved.

You dont have to be religious to enjoy this movie
A lot of christian movies are a bit rubbish but this was really good. You dont have to belive in God to like this movie. It talks on racism, loss of a child, bitterness redemption, and freedom from anger. A great movie
