Everyday Cooking Essentials Instant Read Thermometer with Probe,Wireless Remote

I’m very excited to receive my first digital food thermometer. I actually look forward to cooking so I can use it! It gives an instant readout, no waiting for the temperature to slowly climb or leaving your hand in the oven waiting for a readout. I like that it’s not bulky and doesn’t take up much space in my kitchen drawer. The protective sheath is great. I was concerned that the display would be too small for me to see as I’m in need of new glasses, but I could read the display just fine. It works perfect! I’m very happy with my purchase and would recommend this for anyone considering a digital thermometer.

This is just a basic thermometer that gives temp in C or F. Since the ad said it was for meat I thought it would tell you when the meat is Rare, Med. and Well done as some do. I guess I'll just have to learn the correct cooking temperatures for meat. It seems to work well but takes a while to get to the temperature when its very high or low.

Not bad for the price, but it easily gets wet inside & then fogs up & malfunctions. It comes apart & will dry out (I spayed canned air into the circuit section to blow out what I could) if left in a warm, airy place. It got goofy after several uses & I thought it was ruined; turned out it was the little metal prong that touches the outer side of the battery; I pulled it out a bit & the battery became more secure. I will replace this when I can; it's not ideally suited to my primary purpose, making yogurt. I should have made sure it was waterproof. It would be better suited for meat dishes, to be fair.

This thermometer is well-designed and easy to use - even for someone who's never really cooked before. I've used this to make hard candy twice now - one test batch right after I got it, and a batch of red candy apples to include in Christmas gift baskets. Both batches came out perfectly. I also use it for meats, and that's worked out well, too. The battery is still going strong after a year, but I don't use it frequently. I like the storage container that ensures it doesn't get damaged or accidentally turned on when stored in my very cluttered miscellaneous drawer. I agree with other commenters that the display isn't instant - it takes a bit to climb to the correct temperature. It also would be nice to have a clip for making hard candy. The buttons are small and a little awkward, but anyone with average vision and mobility should be able to use this just fine. The description is weird - it is wireless in the sense that it doesn't have wires, but there's definitely no "remote." I read the reviews before I bought this, so none of this came as a surprise. All in all, I'm really pleased with this purchase.

I purchased this product because of its good reviews and advertised features. I actually own a Pyrex meat thermometer that has a probe attached by wire to a separate display unit. It is a little cumbersome to use but I have found it to be very accurate. I used the Everyday thermometer for the first time simultaneously with the Pyrex thermometer so that I could gauge its performance. The pork tenderloin that I was grilling turned out to be perfectly cooked at the desired temperature of 165 degrees that registered on the Pyrex. The Everyday thermometer was neither instant nor accurate. It took more than 30 seconds to reach its peak temperature of 130 degrees, well below the actual temperature. I am glad I wasted only $5 on this product since it proved to be absolutely worthless as a cooking tool.

Same exact thermometer that sells for 15, 20, 35, and 65 dollars elsewhere. Simply the best price for this item. Don't pay more than 15 for a thermometer like this, there's not much value added. In fact, this item came in a really sturdy packaging tube which I use for permanent storage of the thermometer. Nice and strong way to protect the thermometer.Works great, reads DI ice as 0C and boiling DI water at 100.1C

Cheap and works, but the reading time on this is incredibly slow. Do yourself a favor and opt for spending a few more dollarss on one that will read in less time.
