Psittaculture: Breeding, Rearing and Management of Parrots

I love this book and found it to be very cicinct and direct in its delivery. I admire and hold Tony Silva the author to a level of knowledge akin to no other when it comes to parrot husbandry. He is also in the forefront of parrot conservation and is known world wide as the foremost expert on all things parrot. I highly recommend anything written by him if your interested in getting honest, clear and correct information about anything relating to owning a parrot.

Interesting reading but I look for the intricate detail that no doubt not the intent of this book.

This book is wonderful. The author, Tony Silva, describe breeding of parrots fro his greatest experience. This book must be in the library of every parrots lover.

I first borrowed this book from an acquaintance who has been breeding birds for over 30 years.Despite the ambivalence I feel towards Silva, I have to admit that this book provides very detailed and thorough information. While there are books out there with more specific information on individual species, this books seems to provide a detailed briefing on one of the largest selections of species I've seen. It has very good measurement guidelines for fitting cage sizes and nest boxes.Though, it is a fairly heavy read and presumes at least a cursory knowledge of avicultural terminology and does not seem to slow down to explain the basics. Overall it seems to be a good book for reference purposes.
