Is the magnet strong enough to hold its own weight with the stock battery, never had a light that would actually hold its own.

Only on SOME steels. It definitely won't hold on most stainless. Personally, if I were relying on magnetic adhesion most of the time, I'd stick another magnet on top of the existing one or hot glue it somewhere else.

Is the lens focus-able? can it do a flood or tune it into a beam?

Nope. It's just a flood light. They have a newer version that has an even wider beam.
