The whole nutmegs rotted in the bag, product was unusable and had to be discarded. Very disappointed as Grenada nutmeg is world famous for taste and quality.

One of the features which makes this product stand out is that the nutmeg has not already been removed from the shell. So why do we care? We care because the shell naturally protects the nutmeg, helping to retain the fresh nutmeg aroma longer than when it is without the shell. Having looked around, it is fair to say that in our North American area, we do not often see nutmeg in its original shell, so this product certainly stands out. What many people do not realize is that the shell is not that difficult to crack open. We simply cut the nut in half with a regular kitchen knife, and then the nutmeg freely rolls out of the shell. Another thing that many people do not realize, is that nutmeg has relatively soft seed meat inside. This means it is relatively easy to grind it into a fine powder, if you can put in some "elbow grease" and grind it as we do -- with a mortar & pestle. Another way is simply to use an ordinary ultra-fine grater. So why only 4 out of 5 stars? Because it is not organic. Everything else is excellent about this product.

I expected a more flavorful nutmeg coming from the Spice Island.
