Great Movie. Might help if you are a grown-up. Or a few kids who are old beyond their years.

A Sweet Romantic Comedy
The acting was great! -Michael Douglas & Diane Keaton had beautiful chemistry together.Just a sweet film...I saw it when it first came out, but it was just asgood the second time around. It's so sad that beautiful stories like this aren't made much anymore.Instead, films with wall to wall action & violence with no heart seemto be the rule out there these days. - Kind of tells you where oursociety is these days!

It's Never Too Late
Oren (Michael Douglas) is a cranky insensitive realtor who rubs everyone the wrong way. Leah (Diane Keaton) is a kind and sensitive cabaret singer who breaks down in tears whenever she sings a melancholic song. One wouldn't think that there would be much in common with these two except for their ages, somewhere around sixty-five, a shared apartment complex in Connecticut, and that they both lost a spouse. The thread that brings these two together is Oren's granddaughter Sarah (Sterling Jerins) dropped on the doorstep by his estranged recovering heroin addict son who has to serve a nine month prison term for securities crimes. Initially Oren is resistant to Sarah leaving the rearing to Leah. As time goes on Oren is smitten by Sarah's charm which in turn brings him closer to Leah. Though far from a curmudgeon Leah adopts a thicker exterior at Oren's behest. This film posits the idea that it's never too late to fall and grow into love and that true change from within is not impossible. To some this may sound like cliché but in the expert hands of Douglas and Keaton you will believe. Both are in top form here and have a definite kinetic chemistry. It also helps that Jerins is an impressive young talent bereft of cutesy kid affectations. The ageless Frances Sternhagen (Cliff's mom on "Cheers") steals scenes as Douglas' chain smoking wisecracking colleague at the real estate office. One shouldn't forget that Rob Reiner, who has a funny unbilled bit as Keaton's piano accompanist, is an accomplished director who has a feel for this type material as he demonstrated in "The Bucket List" among his many accomplishments. This film flew under the radar among the summer blockbusters but is perfect for home viewing. On a note of trivia Frankie Valli of the Four Seasons has a cameo as a nightclub owner.

Cliche but funny
A widower, Douglas, is trying to sell his home and skip town. The problem is his son, who is to report to jail, drops his granddaughter to take care for while he is away. As reluctant as he is, he gets some help from his neighbor, Keaton. As time goes by his humanity comes back and is able to see life from a different perspective. Not a big fan of Douglas but here he nails it. Keaton is great and there is some good humor. I loved how the director gave some humanity to the poeple that worked in Douglas' office. Usually you get the sense that you are dealing with robots.

It was ok
I don’t know, maybe I was expecting too much based on the glowing reviews but the movie was just ok to me. I didn’t feel any great chemistry between the two main characters and the plot was a bit rushed. I am a big fan of Diane Keaton but this was not her best. Supporting cast was very good. The film succeeded in getting the message across that life has ups and downs and it’s how you deal with them that can make or break you. The movie was somewhat enjoyable, just a bit disappointing for me.

Very good movie
As you’d expect from the main cast the acting is excellent including the supporting cast, and the dialogue is likewise excellent. The characters are interesting and very well developed, and the story is intriguing and touching. Nothing not to like here, so highly recommended.

Cute and funny with some serious issues gently touched on - I always love watching Rob Reiner playing an average guy trying to survive in a faster world. Diane Keaton and Micheal Douglas made their characters believable, and the little granddaughter was marvellous. Glad to have this. Delivery on time and DVD in good condition.
