These look absolutely amazing for the price. I wasn't really expecting such heavy duty brackets. They look hand forged. Very easy to attach to the wall as the screw holes are easy to access. It comes with screws and anchors, but I tossed the anchors (lol) and just found studs. The width of the board you will need is 8".

I love these brackets! I have ordered them 3 times already for different rooms in my house! Sturdy and stylish!

Overall the product is fine for what i was using it for, however, the brackets are warped and not square. The holes are off center of the bracket piece that attaches to the wall, and the shelf support is crooked which makes it a little difficult when installing a flat piece for the shelf.Also, the diagram states the opening is 7.87" over mine measured 8.25-8.5" for a shelf so unless you are cutting a piece to fit, be mindful of this!Pretty cheap product so if you are looking for a well finished product i would pass on this.
