"Compatible" toner for the KM Magicolor 1600
2013 update is below. SOL answered my pre order questions very quickly, as well as my one post question. They sent the order faster than promised, which is always good. They include gloves for each color replacement, metal tape for 2 refills, new chips (see picture), pouring spouts & instructions. More than what was listed, very very nice of them.I am happy with this toner as a replacement to the OEM toner. It only took 3 sheets to adjust the cartridges. You're going to touch the 'platen' just in the matter of removing the carts from the machine, so don't worry. I'm not sure this toner will blend well with the OEM toner, but color hues are a match.I didn't need to replace black, so that's still OEM, & the refill toners work very well with it.Down sides. The end result of the print, may look like HP toner. That is, it has a flat look to it. Where the OEM is glossy & deep. Also, the silky feel of the original toner is not there. The replacement toner has a "crusty" feel to it, even on silk gloss cover. So keep that in mind if your end results need to be glossy, silky & deep. When I filled, I wanted a full cartridge. There is enough toner to do that, plus extra, so that's a very good deal. I don't know how much the extended fills are exactly, I just kept filling till about an 1/8 left, than replaced the cover. I didn't drill a hole in the cartridge as suggested, I simply removed the fill cover on the end. If you've ever refilled toner, you know what I'm talking about. If you haven't the pictures on this page are of it (see blue coloring picture).Keep in mind, the chips are dotted with their color, so don't mix them up. Also (see included picture), for a full cartridge, have the black end, facing the fill hole. One side is black, the other is white. Just basic refill knowledge, I figured that black up meant full (I was right). SOL sent me a photo of the direction the day I asked for it (more like an hour away from writing). The hardest thing was getting the printer to rotate & stop on blue, so I could take it out. You'll need a very small Prince & Reed or a micro Philips screw driver to replace the chip. A pair of needle nose pliers to remove the end cap (careful not to damage it). I cut the tips a bit more on the pour spouts to speed up the filling, but that's just me.So far I've printed what I've printed before, with no major upsets than what I've listed above. The colors are right on & all of that. Printing paper, labels, & cards. I will say that bringing the quality settings down to the minimum for draft mode (brightness, saturation etc), does produce a more brown looking copy than original, but it's only draft. It may suck if you're using that as a very light watermark. Adjust accordingly. Update (01-13-13): That just seemed to have been a fluke. You can bring your settings down to 600x600 & 1 on B&W draft & it'll look fine (for all text & most graphics).I'll update this as the need arises, if it arises. So that's it, I am very happy with the results, it'll pass for most applications, but to have that Konica Minolta pop & snap, get OEM, it's still cheaper than ink jet.Good luck on your refill, & thanks SOL for having this available & at a fair price.Additional update (01-13-13): Filled the cartridge with black & it was fine. I ran two test sheets through, just to line up the toner, but I didn't really need to run more than 1 sheet, it was fine (I hit two copies because I figured that usually works).I will say that I have noticed some embossing on certain graphics, which is cool. It has to do with shadowing & shading. Experiment as you like, see what else comes up.Also, making a color draft setting, still produces an awesome print. Often that, will color match better, than full blown resolution.2013: Since my purchase two years ago, I am about to need some more toner, & I use this printer a lot! So that's a great investment. So it was a "no brainer" to re-order. Except. . . this is half of the amount I previously bought, & a different company (?). So not really a savings of 50%. A bit miffed there, as I expected the Amazon link from my order, to be the same thing I purchased. Not an updated item.Having the price & the amount being half, isn't the issue, & I've written to Amazon & this shop about it. It's that it's linked to this review, & not the same thing. Well, maybe, I haven't tried the toner as yet, because it's to refill. On the package I received, I am happy that they include new chips with the toner. But that is all that is in there. No gloves, no tape as with the original (see above). No big deal, as I don't use the tape & have my own gloves. The company I wrote to (via a letter to Amazon) was friendly enough. Neither one claims ownership to the improper link. I'll update this again (if I can), after I use the toner.Alright, here is the toner use update. The initial chips, ended after two refills, which says a lot for that company (SOL). As they died, I replaced the chips with this new batch, & topped up the cartridges. Here, is that rundown in brief. I don't like the black at all. WAY too much "dust" over the printed page, it tends to really burn label sheets, & is the cause of damaging the fuser. Certainly NOT a savings.I am on the look out for a decent black, & believe I have found one (through talking with some peeps here). I will say that I have noticed yet another picture change to the above carts. I'm not sure I will buy them again, as I can't have toner all over the printed pages! I'm going to have to search for SOL again, & hope that I'm not S.O.L. Be sure to read my reviews on the black, we'll see how it goes?

Seems to work fine. A few glitches but overall good experience
Konica 1600Ws have very expensive toner cartriges so I decided to experiment with a toner refill. The materials arrived within a week of ordering them. I watched the Youtubes on replacing the toner and you should too. The movies are accurate except for one detail: it takes a longer to vaccuum out the old toner than the movies show. The plug is easily removed with screwdriver. Be sure to slide the blade in far enough past the plug so you don't tear up the plug lips when you pry it out. this kit does not come with new plugs so you will need it in good shape. You need to vacuum out the old toner because you don't want to mix grain sizes of materials (which supposedly can jam). So you put a shop vac up to the hole and suck it out. you want to gently rap the cartrige ont he table while you do this. You will spill a little of the toner out and on your hands when you do this so do it someplace you don't mind. The most hazardous part of this is that the toner is fine enough to invisibly escape through the shop vac filter. I thought I had it very cleanly done but noticed later that when I blew my nose the mucus was toner colored. Warning: Micron sized particles are known to be a carcinogen if they get in your lungs so thats' not a good thing! That's the easy part and take your time rapping it as it speeds up the next slow step. You need to rotate the cyllinder and suck off the toner it holds. You will need to rotate this many times till it stops refeshing with new toner. It took me at least 10 minutes. That's the part that the movies skip over. But eventually it gets almost clean. Now you pour in the new toner. This is very easy. The mistake you can make here is to squeeze the bottle too hard to accelerate the transfer. Instead just hold it over the plug hole and gently tap and gently squeeze the bottle. it will flow out and after a couple minutes you are done.vaccum the hole and push the plug in. vaccum the cartrige to collect all the stuff you spilled. wipe it with a dry paper towel to get any the vaccum is missing. and voila you are done filling it.. The final step is to replace the chip. this takes a fine point phillips screw driver. I could not see any markings labeling the new chips by color or top to bottom orientation, so I just picked one and put it on. Worked for me.The results look good but not quite as good as the original toner. I noticed that after I replaced the black and printed out some pure color bars that the black was showing up in trace streaks in the pure colors. So evidently the toner is stickier to the platten where these colors get mixed. But short of that you really don't see that much in pictures or general colored text printout. it's just in the regions of pure color. That's all I need out of my color printer so I can tolerate that tiny tiny bit of streaking I bought the 1600W because it's cheap. I don't want to pay for pricely replacments. So this fits the bill. it's not perfect but it is very good. I takes 20 minutes of your time from start to finish to replace one color and clean up.

Contacting this seller about a problem is a waste of time.
It was a few months after we purchased the Konica Minolta 1600W laser printer that we had to refill the black cartridge. After following the seller's instructions we still got an error light for the black cartridge. When I replaced the new circuit board chip with one of the other new chips received with the order we had no error light, and the printer has been working just fine. I have contacted the seller at least three times, and their only reply is that I must have installed the chip incorrectly. This is not rocket science, but whoever this seller is they are not at all willing to accept the fact that one of their no doubt Chinese-made microchips might just be bad. Since all the other products made in China that we in the U.S. are forced to buy are 100% perfect this seller must believe there is not way one of the products they sell could be bad. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SELLER UNLESS YOU WANT TO FIGHT THEM IF A PRODUCT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY!!!
