This is hands down the best cooling pad I have ever owned!
This is hands down the best cooling pad I have ever come across in my life! I play a lot of video games on my laptop and it tends to get hot and overheat so I have to have a cooling pad under it at all times. Before I started researching about them I always just bought those plastic coolers you can buy from Big Lots and when the second one broke I just had enough and I was on a mission to find the best and long lasting cooling pad I could find no matter the price. That's when I came across this one and I have had it for over 5 months now. It still works great and is super durable. The fans are silent, you can barely even hear them and they cool the laptop great. When I put my hand under it and touch the laptop the whole surface there is cold and it cools the whole area evenly. The whole cooling pad is like a grid, so you can clip the fans in place anywhere on it which is great because all laptops have the vent area in a different locations. The only con is that it's uneven, I guess most people like it that way but I would rather prefer an even stand, so if they could add extension legs to the front I would really happy. In overall you definitely want an aluminium cooler because it lasts longer and won't get hot. Also the movable fans are just great, they are silent and you can move them around to the right spot. This is the best cooling pad I have ever had and will definitely buy it again if the one I have should ever break. Love it!!

Great cooler, poor fan reliability, and a stoneage-era web portal
UPDATE 2: -- Laughably BAD Support!Three (3) submission for RMA have now been sent over the last 6 mos and still no feedback from cooolermaster -- the RMA keeps getting kicked from their system and they say CASE CLOSED, but do not indicate if the RMA will be fulfilled or if it's been denied.UPDATE 1: -- DOWNGRADED!One fan became intolerably loud after 3 mos -- did a warranty with CM that requires you set up an account, make a claim ticket, remove the defective fan, place on top of a printed copy of your invoice, photograph, and attach the image to your claim ticket. More effort than i imagined for a couple cheap little fans. But since i know how it goes with these sub-par fans, i had already purchased a couple back-up units -- which also happens to be a frustrating process.Get it together, Cooler Master, use a higher grade fan, make your website easier to use... and maybe even offer the replacement fan units here on Amazon -- i would certainly buy them here versus dealing with your website, even if the unit IS under warrantyORIGINAL REVIEW:Works fine but fans don't last terribly long -- i have 3 of these units now and each has incurred premature fan failure (accompanied with hideous noise and poor performance). One thing i appreciate is the fansl connect through a single USB thru-port, which is nice for not using up another connection point -- but if one fan goes, i just replace the whole rig (with either the 2- or 3-fan set-up. My tower fans last at least 5 times longer. Maybe the new fan design will last longer, but i'll be surprised if it does. When it's working properly, however, it is very quiet.I've never had need to utilize the portability aspects of the unit (where the laptop snuggles into the underside kerf, but at least it demonstrates some forward design thinking).

Sneaky Silent
Order was shipped in two days and delivered in one. Setup was easy--you simply click the fans into the location you'd prefer them to be, so I could place one directly under my one hotspot and the other wherever as back-up. I popped the USB cord into my computer (which, but the way, has a USB extension, so you don't have to worry about your only functioning USB port being taken by this pad) and thought I would have to attempt a refund for a non-functioning product. Although I was aware from other reviews that the fans ran silently, I didn't realize how silent silence could be. Without a sound, they produced gusts of cool air at a low speed. My laptop fan did not run as hard as it normally does while I was gaming and my laptop barely got warm! (So I wonder why my fan ran at all, but I think it needs cleaning.) I'd definitely recommend this product :)Update 10/1/15: After less than two weeks (starting about three days ago), one of the fans has started rattling violently for about 5 minutes on startup before settling down. It's unrelated to the pressure of my laptop--the fan is actually rattling on its axle. I have no idea how to remedy this or if it's a sign the fan is going to malfunction or die soon.

Forget the selling point and focus on actual dimensions
Disappointed and thinking of exchanging for three-fan version. The specs. say good for up to 17-inch displays. This is an oversell dimension and should not be construed as full coverage for a 17-inch wide screen laptop. You should make sure that you consider the actual dimensions and NOT the selling point. I have a Gateway FX P7805 17-inch and this platform leaves approx, one inch overlap on both sides. Since I use my laptop as a true lap PC it is a bit cumbersome to manage and balance my computer on my lap. This can, and does, give me pause as to whether I have it balanced evenly to prevent accidental tipping. Also, the rubber stays are not glued in place and easily slide or come off. Even so, however, there are other features I appreciate, like the movable fans which can be arranged wherever your particular machine needs extra cooling. Mine may not be the same as yours. Some complain that air flow is less than appreciable. However, it's a trade-off with noise vs. air volume. That's the reality of these things.
