Hydrofarm HGPPSPRING Precision Pruner Spring, Pack Contains 10 Springs

Fiskars makes a host of fine garden tools, but if you use any of their micro-tip shears, cutters, pruners or what-not, you'll sooner or later wear out a spring. Fiskars does not offer replacement springs for most of their products, presuming you'll just spend another $10 (or whatever) to buy something new. What a waste to buy a new trimmer when the old blades are still sharp and everything but the spring from the original tool is fine--I discovered these replacement springs after checking the local ACE Hardware (close but no cigar,) and these Hydrofarm springs proved to work great on a Fiskars. Thank you, Hydrofarm! (BTW: I do like Hydrofarm pruners, but the Fiskars micro-tip shears are my choice for fine, needle-point-accurate work and they fit my hands a bit better than Hydrofarm--a totally personal choice.) Tip: To make the connectors on each end of the spring fit tightly around the Fiskars mounting posts, you may have to tighten the end points of these springs slightly using a pair of needle nose pliers; reach in to grasp an end of the spring wire and tighten, working to wind the coiled wire slightly over the ends of the pliers ever so gently--this took me about 30 seconds on each end and after a tiny bit of tightening, the springs then fit like factory originals, save for the fact that the Hydrofarm springs are heavier and should last longer. Again: Extra points to Hydrofarm!

They work great

A cheap and easy repair for my pruning tool. With extra springs in case of further spring loss.

Might be a little bit stiffer than the original spring, but it's fine. Good value.

You will need to modify the Hydrofarm springs a little bit. Here's what you do: 1) First, attempt a test fit. Pay attention to how much you'll have to bend the end loops to grip the spring retaining nipples of the Fiskars shears. 2) Using a set of needle nose pliers, squeeze the outside diameter of the end loop in an even round-about clock fashion -- do it a little bit at a time testing fitment after each go-round. If you bend it too much, you'll have a bear of a time installing the spring or have to start with a new spring. But, that's why you bought the package of 10! ;-) 3) If you bent the spring end loop too tight, you can use a stout dental pick or similar to push the beginning end of the wire down over the nipple. Continue applying force with the dental pick at the same time turning the spring literally screwing it on. Repeat at the other end. Although, the turning of the spring may be a bit more difficult. And please, be careful not to run the sharp pick through a hand or finger.

These compression springs are TOO WEAK for regular pruning shears. They DON'T WORK.

I am sure these springs will be great for something, but they were way too small for my Fiskars pruning sheers. I attempted to force it on, but I couldn't get it to work.
