Durable!: My Two Teenage Boys Put It to the Test in High School
This binder has served it's purpose well now for over a month, so I can review it properly. I bought two of these--one for each of my teenage boys for school. They were previously destroying "heavy duty" regular binders in a matter of weeks. Even with giant back packs, their binders don't fit well in their bag with all the books they have to get carry, so they are always left out, and then they get beat up.I was on a mission to find one that would actually stand up to what my kids put it through. After a month, the binders are still working and in basically the same shape as they started out in! One is dinged up and bent a little in one spot on the front where it got stepped on, but that was the worst damage it has taken. I know for a fact that the boys throw their binder in the car and then the back back on top of it half the time, and it's held up even with that kind of rough treatment. So 5 stars on very durable!Another positive is that you can write on these really well with permanent markers, so my boys have decorated them with doodles until you can barely see the metal. The only negative so far is that they are a bit noisy. Even with a lot of papers and dividers in them, the metal edges touch when it closes, and it sounds like you would expect--two pieces of metal hitting each other. One of my boys' teachers got onto him when he shut it kind of hard in class, and it sounded a bit like someone hitting a locker. So, this binder passes my test of survival in the jungles of high school with only a teenage boy to care for it. If you are actually planning on using this for work purposes and not throwing it around everyday, I foresee many years of nice binder use in your future. As it is, I am optimistic that this binder will last us at least through this school year.

Worth the Money
While the price is a bit steep this notebook is well made and will stand the test of time. I had one previously and would still be using it except one of the rings bent out shape when a heavy object bent it out of shape. I still use it. Just not for everyday operations.

Best Binder!
The Saunders Recycled Aluminum Ring Binders are the best for heavy use. When I was in the Military we used these. They would last for years. Once I retired from the service, I opened a cleaning service. Our Service Providers use these to keep their workorders, SDS's, and other important documents. Each Provider has two. In the five years we have been opened, we have only replaced one binder. This was due to the Provider leaving the binder on the roof of their car and driving off. It was then run over. She was able to retrieve the binder. At that point it was badly damaged. However, everything inside was fine. Besides the one binder needing to be replaced. I only purchase more due to our business growing. Why pay $8-$20 for a plastic binder that will fall apart within a year when you can get a quality metal binder that will last many years?

Very durable and strong
I tend to use my binder a lot, and therefore I tend to tear-up traditional plastic-over-cardboard binders. When I bought this binder, I was instantly relieved of my previous accidental destroying tendencies. This binder is incredibly strong and solid, offering great protection for the contents within it, while maintaining light and pretty. The 'covers' extend to the perfect length: not exposing the papers within, nor taking up too much space.I took off one star because the binder scratches easily on surfaces such as desks. After a couple of months of use in high school, the bottom-side of the binder is completely scratched-up. These scratches are only cosmetic though, and the binder is still solid and strong.I strongly recommend this binder for anybody who wants an ultra-strong and damage-resistant binder for frequent use.

Nice, well made. Style over function.
These are well constructed, and look nice for stationary or light use. Aluminum is easy to scratch and bend, so expect that if you intend heavy duty use.

Best folder I have ever had
Pros:- Doesn't break.- Lightweight.- It is recycledCons:- It does get scratched because it's aluminum.- The bars holding the hinges together sometimes slowly come out.- When you open it in class, it clanks against the table (again, because it's metal)Recommendation to the manufacture:- Coat it in something so that it doesn't scratch or isn't as noisy.- Crimp the hinges so the bars don't come outI have been looking for a metal binder for awhile and found this. I thought I would give it a try, and it proved to be the last binder I would ever buy. It still can be improved upon. Whats also great is it is more environmentally friendly because it lasts longer than the cardboard binders, and it is recycled aluminum. I recommend this to everyone, its so great not to have a crappy looking binder all of the time.

Buy Once and Keep Forever
These binders are great. I get lots of comments on these because nobody ever expects a school binder to be made of metal. They barely flex and protect their contents. The snap ring mechanism is solid, leaves no gaps between the rings, and has not broken. Unfortunately, I agree with other users that have numerous scratches and discolorations appear on front, even though I have no idea what could have caused these. This does not affect my review personally because they are not for display purposes, so I could care less as long as they do work as a binder (like those ugly cardboard binders that permanently bend). I've had them for 2 years now and can't see ever needing to replace them. They feel great in the hand and are surprisingly light. You can even bend them all the way around so that you can use them as a desk in an auditorium with those little tabletops.

Inferior Hinge Design Compared to Jam Aluminum Binders
Jam Binder (Red) has 7 sturdy interlocking hinges as compared to just 2 on the Saunders Aluminum Binder, which was also more expensive. Also the front edge of the Saunders is rounded or curved as opposed to a regular square outline.

Good Quality
a rather solid build, except for the rings, they are still vulnerable to bending.
