BROOKS BROTHERS 1818 COLOGNE FOR MEN, 6.0 OZ (ATOMIZER INCLUDED)

I had two people comment on this product.. both said "smells like something my grandfather wears" "You smell like my dad"

To put it simply, this cologne is a modern classic that does everything a good cologne should. What your getting is a very rich smelling day cologne that works well on a date, in the office, at the movies, or in a suit. The cologne combines spicy florals and woody leather to make a cologne that will leave anyone older than say....25, wondering just exactly what your wearing that makes you smell so good. From first spray the scent is a little heady at the opening but it calms down into a warm lush mix that lasts.This cologne has proven to be appropriate for almost any occasion. I originally bought it because i was looking for a change from my last cologne, I wanted something different after using the same scent for the last 3 years. So I turned to Brooks Brothers, a company that in my opinion, is truly known for there classic american menswear style. This cologne did not disapoint, and the price you pay for a full 6 oz. is a huge bargain, especially when matched with other camparable quality colognes.The atomizer was easy to install, and I expect this bottle to last me the better part of 2 years.

A very good barbershop cologne that for me calls to mind the 60's and 70's upscale aftershaves. Best part is that it doesn't cost an arm and a leg. A heavy or substantial bottle but somewhat cheap paper band around the bottle will fool you into thinking it's cheap.A genuine masculine scent.

Whenever I smell this on someone else -- not an everyday experience, because this scent isn't that well known -- I've smiled, because the opening of dry florals and sandalwood is unmistakeable. It soon simmers down to a combination of musk and leather that doesn't project too far, but goes on for hours -- it's good as an aftershave and as an evening cologne.I suspect that 1818 was Brooks Brothers' "answer" to Guerlain's Habit Rouge (which I also review). It might be described as a gentleman's oriental -- one deliberately calculated not to drive innocent bystanders from the room, which a lot of later orientals, like Obsession, definitely did.Personally I prefer Habit Rouge -- it's darker, drier, and punchier -- which is why I'm giving this a four. However, that's almost entirely an evening scent, while this one's a lot more useful. It's a great intro to the oriental genre, as well -- and whoever put this together clearly realized that simplicity and quality were often more impressive that ostentation. One expects no less from Brooks Brothers.So if you want to convince the lady in question that you're really Cary Grant -- suave, reliable, cosmopolitan and in control of your life, but still cuddly enough that you don't mind doing the dishes, this will definitely do the job.
