Walter Foster Book, Assorted

I love this book. Each chapter is written by a different artist. All the contributing artists draw in a very detailed, precise and realistic manner but each have a slightly different approach. The first chapter is an introduction to the materials and techniques used by the various artists, and includes information on working from photographs. The book then goes on to show how each artist goes about doing a drawing from start to finish. All but the final chapter provides detailed information on drawing with graphite pencil, while the final chapter demonstrates drawing with colour pencils. With masses of illustrations and stacks of great information, if you love realistic, lifelike animal drawing, this is THE book to have!

As a beginner, I liked the tips in this book. The different styles presented was a bonus for me. In a way seeing the different approaches made me find what works for me and my style instead of getting my brain locked in to someone's else's technique. Most other beginning drawing books show you only that author/artist's approach. Nothing wrong with that, but this one helped me see there isn't just one way to do things.

This book is great. When I saw this, I had to have it as I have the other books in the same Collector's Series and I love all of them. This book was not a disappointment and it's better than the rest, in fact. It has animals in graphite from a few contributing artists' who have a lot of teaching history AND it even has a great lil colored pencil section by Debra Kauffman Yaun that provides a nice surprise and it's well done.

Purchased this for my daughter. She loves to draw animals. This has great techniques and examples. She has enjoyed it very much and it has actually produced a noted change in her drawings.

What a beautiful book! “The Art of Drawing Animals” will provide you with all you need to learn how to draw incredibly realistic and stunningly beautiful animals, including a variety of cats and dogs, many baby animals, horse and ponies, and a number of wild animals. To provide a backdrop for eager beginners, the authors cover the basics including sketching supplies, and techniques such as shading and perspective, however I believe this book would be best appreciated, (and cherished ) by artists with some existing experience who are looking to expand their skill set.A basic template is provided as a starting point for each animal, which can be traced or used as a model to provide the animal features and perspective. The authors then cover the techniques needed to layer on, step by step, fur, eyes and other distinguishing characteristics to complete the detailed sketch. The results are simply spectacular.Although drawing skills at this level are somewhat beyond my experience, I know of a number of artists who would love to receive and learn from this book. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to expand their current skill set into the drawing of absolutely beautiful and incredibly realistic looking animals.Many thanks to NetGalley, Walter Foster Publishing, and the authors, for a advance review copy of this book, which will be published in Sept 2022. A very well produced book with helpful tips. It is a great book for those who want to learn how to draw animals. I would recommend the book to young artists who want to develope better skills in drawing animals

Being completely un-artistic, it looked hard. I have a 13 year old grandson who is gifted at drawing, without lessons. Despite learning difficulties, he was thrilled to get the book, and is doing very well and loving it. Makes us all happy!

A bit difficult to know where to startI have only been doing artwork for a couple of years but never had a defined vision of what i wanted to paint or paint withI bought this book after reading some reports about it as i usually doAs a newbie to animals drawing and painting this sort of caught my eye but after getting it i have to admit its not for beginners which i thought it might be useful for but more an advanced artistThere are plenty of sketches which start with the circles and squares basic profiles as they like to refer to them also there are some that have the basic full outline of the particular animalMaybe this is a bit too early for me to make a judgment so i will post this now then return at a later date to update my progressAs my years are fast passing me by i just hope i have enough time to Aspire to my dream of becoming a reasonable artist

This is an excellent book for showing you how to draw animals in stages. The size of the book is brilliant as I have two others and they are much smaller so unless you graph out the finished drawing to a larger size it's going to be difficult to match all the details. This is definitely the best book of this kind I have bought so far and worth every penny of the cost.

This is a lovely book, with clear instructions for step by step projects. Explanations of techniques used are clearer than some books that I have read.My only critisism would be that the projects in coloured pencil are in another book that I already have, 'Animals In Coloured Pencil'. I may not have bought this book if I had known this.However in my opinion the book itself is worthy of the five stars that I have given it.However I have given it 5 stars because the book itself is worth it.

This is a great book for all ages! Tips and hints on drawing technique of animals and three of my favourite 4 legged favourites one's on the cover What's not to like? In Retirement I've taken up art again after a good few years and this book is a great refresher course.

The book itself is packed with information for painting and drawing and has some lovely pictures to have a go at, a really good buy.Excellent service and the condition of the book was as new, lucky me!
