Slightly skeptical
I’m not going to lie, I was very skeptical. I didn’t know how it was going to work in only hooking it up to a regular hose and using it in my pool. But omg it worked so great to suck up the sand off my steps! The Poolmaster 28008 Black Magic Jet is a top-notch addition to any pool cleaning arsenal. This powerful jet vacuum is designed to efficiently remove debris and dirt from your pool, ensuring crystal-clear water with minimal effort. One of its standout features is the ability to attach to a standard garden hose, utilizing water pressure to create a strong vacuum effect. This makes it incredibly easy to use and highly effective at capturing both large and small debris. The Black Magic Jet also comes with a reusable leaf bag, adding convenience and sustainability to your pool maintenance routine.Built with durable materials, this vacuum is designed to withstand regular use and harsh pool chemicals. Its lightweight and portable design make it easy to maneuver, even in hard-to-reach areas. Overall, the Poolmaster 28008 Black Magic Jet is a reliable and efficient tool for maintaining a clean and inviting pool.

Okay vacuum for small pools
After buying a small above ground pool with a fairly weak filter system, I found out that there are very few low cost options for cleaning the pool. This vacuum is one of them. This vacuum works by having water literally shove the dirt off of the pool floor into the vacuum's brushes and into the filter bag. The filter bag is durable and the system generally works well. The vacuum is less effective at picking up the fine dust that seems to accumulate on the bottom of the pool. The vacuum is remarkably effective at getting large dirt particles off the bottom of the pool floor and is rather easy to use. The "additional equipment" referenced in another review is a standard pool extension handle that can be found at any hardware or pool supply store during the summer.PROS -CheapWorks wellPicks stuff off of bottom of pool that otherwise couldn't get toOther options do not seem to be more effectiveCONS -Need additional handle with additional costDoesn't get the really small stuffGood luck.

It still works better than most pool vacuums
I had one of these long ago and it was the greatest pool cleaner EVER! It lasted for many years, only had to replace the net that came with it a couple times. It was lightweight, easy to maneuver and picked up leaves, bugs, small sticks, and even sand grains. Since then I believe it has been "Improved" way too many times. Instead of moving at a horizontal wide path pushing it easily forward and pulling it back to you, when you connect it to a standard pole, it takes a vertical position or a nearly vertical position, slightly tipped to one side and giving you a very narrow cleaning path. You can try swinging it from side to side but its really HARD on your shoulders and back. The net has been changed and seems to have a tighter weave which should seem like a good thing but every 5 minutes or so will give several wicked blasts of air bubbles that no longer have any space inside the net and make the whole unit and pole charge for the surface of the pool. Best not to let it get there as some of the stuff you've collected will come back out of the net with the escaping bubbles. Grab the pole with both hands, lean forward and push down until the bubbles ease up and the unit will go back to work. Repeat as needed. Though this sounds terrible it is still faster and works better than the heavy vacuums with the curling hoses.

Love this - very effective!
Great for my very small garden pond. I don't even need a handle - just use my garden hose to guide it. Works great!

Great
My expectations for this vac were low, but I was wrong. I have an 800 gallon vinyl pool and this is perfect. One thing I did not notice when I purchased is that with this product is that you can attach it to your filter with a hose extension and use your filter as the suction power. I attached the hose and did a quick pass. This little vacuum picked up all the debris on the pool floor. I was impressed that it is able to vacuum the exact spot you are going over and does not blow the debris on the side of the vac where you are not rolling over. This was an impressive purchase for the price. I paid $26 pole included.

Suction works good but pole broken within 30 minutes.
This product was relatively easy to put together and the suction worked great. However, whenever the bag got too full, it automatically popped off and half of the leaves and gunk that I had sucked up from the bottom of the pool would start floating out of the bag. I would empty the bag of the gunk and leaves and tie it back on, but this happened at least 5 times within the first 30 minutes of use. Also within the first 30 minutes of use, the pole broke! It is in 6 different segments that screw together, and since the bottom part of one of the segments broke off in the other segment, I lost a third of the length of the pole. I don't recommend that you purchase the additional pole because it is made out of really cheap plastic. Also, I wish the brush was wider and the bag was bigger, but I guess you get what you pay for. I'm going to see if I can get another pole to use for this.

Works Great!
Used it with garden hose, works Great! need to move slow with it, but picks up everything from big leaves to sand! Bag it comes with is fine enough to trap the sand even so you can get a good clean bottom of the pool!

Small but works well
The item appeared to be a bit smaller than I what I was expecting from the images, but it works very well. I just attached it to the 8'-14' telescopic pole that I had picked up at the big box warehouse earlier for 30 bucks Canadian, connected a smaller diameter hose to not get the pool to completely overflow while vacuuming the floor, and that's all I needed for our 16' above ground pool.

Does a great job! Lots of suction, and operates with a garden hose.
Great suction!! The only thing that could have came with the vacuum is an adapter to fit a universal pool skimmer hander. Certainly would have earned 5 🌟 from me.

A bit frustrating to use the pole that comes with this
First, as others have noted, if one wishes to shun the pole that comes with this kit and buy a "standard" pool net pole, be warned that the 1.25" diameter it requires is not particularly standard. (In other words, it's a lot larger than the two pool poles I've owned.)Knowing that, I decided to buy the Black Magic kit that includes a pole. The Black Magic pole itself was easy to assemble. However, to use it, you will need to first pry out the V-clip that would otherwise fit the pool pole that you opted not buy separately. (N.B. If I had shelled out the $$ to buy a large pool pole separately, it would fit OVER the Black Magic part and be held in place by the V-clip. If you use the Black Magic pole, it fits INSIDE the Black Magic part and is screwed into place.)I'm dexterous and determined, so I got that deeply embedded V-clip out in one piece. But, it took an hour and a lot of salty language. (I will admit that some of my frustration was due to an overly insistent chipmunk, who kept scrambling up onto me and inquiring loudly after peanuts from whatever vantage point he could gain on my person. Peanut-crazed chipmunks and stubborn V-clips are not a Zen combo.)After all that poking, squeezing, prying, peanut feeding and swearing, one is left with a single burning question: Why on earth would the manufacturer of this product make it so difficult to actually use the pole that comes with it?Due to the aforementioned ordeal, I've only used this product once, so I can't really assess its efficacy in vacuuming up debris. Given that a lot of water was leaking from where the hose adapter attaches to the brush, the suction was less than optimal. I may need to tinker with the water pressure and the adapter itself to improve the results.I will say, however, that I am pleased with the size of the debris bag and the fineness of its mesh weave. If I ever manage to get this thing working properly -- and the chipmunk and I have faith that I will -- it should do a decent job of filtering out a lot of the finer debris particles.
