Bling!: The Uncommon Crystal Couture World of Sondra Celli Paperback – Illustrated, 28 May 2019

This was a disappointing read for me. I expected it to be more of a craft book, but 60% or more is solely Sondra’s biography. There are craft projects inside, how to bling up T-shirt’s, caps, converse, etc but only a few.Also in the ARC copy I received from Netgalley there were many many plates missing from the proof copy. As it is obviously a very visual read, this made it more difficult to get involved with. I can see this book will appeal to some, and maybe US readers more than UK as they will know of her I think. But sadly not my kind of craft book.Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Sondra Celli has done a masterful job of sharing the very real and inspiring story of her life as a top designer. Now, also a TV personality, Sondra takes you on a powerful journey into her design portfolio that goes from stunningly elegant to provocatively outrageous. She even gives us lessons on how to create our own BLING! If you were not a fan of “bling” before you read the book, you surely will be by the end. “Bling” is a real eye catcher in lots of ways! And it makes a great coffee table decoration. I loved seeing all the glitzy fashions and learning how Sondra and her team create them. After watching her TV show, “My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding “, I was interested to learn about her life and background and to know that she creates such a wide range of fashions for all types of people and occasions. Lots of very helpful tips for those who want to embellish their own wardrobe.

I purchased this book after visiting Sondra at her shop and hearing her speak at a local club. The book tells a wonderful story of how with the support of family and friends she was able to fulfill her dream. The book is filled with wonderful pictures of her family through the years along with all of her beautiful creations!! I would highly recommend this book for the beauty and sincerity that was put into it, and great bling ideas for you to do!!
