USB-C compatible yubikey! Yes please! With the ever growing presence of AI, technology is such a large danger to us if we aren’t protecting our data. I use this thing for various applications and it keeps me safe and secure. Very easy to use, fits on my keychain, and built great!

I bought this key to use this for Google, LastPass, and Duo MFA at my workplace and setting up and using it has been a positive, relatively simple experience. After using it for a few days, I will probably get the USB-A/NFC version for daily use and use this as my backup. My primary devices are a Pixelbook (two USB-C ports) and a Moto X4 running Android 9. The device apparently identifies itself as a keyboard when plugged into a port. Touching the gold/brass contacts on either side of the key inputs a string of cryptographic characters and a return. This is important because if you accidentally tap the contacts while in Gmail you'll get a bunch of new message windows pop up. I recommend not leaving the key plugged in when you're not actively using it because it is easy to bump the contacts accidentally, particularly while removing the key: they are where it's most natural to grip the key while pulling it out. Hopefully a future version could make these contacts a little less easy to bump unintentionally. Physically, it's small and doesn't add much bulk to my keychain, which I appreciate because I carry my keys in my front pocket and prefer my keyring to be as small as is practical. I am a little worried about lint and dust collecting in the connectors over time and degrading the connection, and am looking into options to cover the connectors. It seems like the most practical option for me is to keep the USB-A/NFC version on my keyring and use this USB-C key as my backup. It would be great in the future to see a durable, sealed USB-C version with NFC whose contacts can be covered while it's not in use. The Google, LastPass, and Duo instructions were clear and well-written. It takes a little bit of time the first time you set it up, and all of those services have some minor hiccups on the software UX side of things, but the Yubikey itself did everything it was supposed to. The only significant issue I experienced is that the Duo's web app used by my employer does not recognize the Android version of Chrome, which means I cannot use the key for mobile logins and have to use less secure and less convenient push notifications. All told, I'm happy with this purchase.

A more robust, dust-resistant version in the future would be a great improvement. The integration process with the platforms I use was mostly seamless, with just a few minor interface hiccups. The only significant limitation I've encountered is with certain mobile app compatibilities, which restricts its use for mobile logins. In summary, this key has been a valuable addition to my tech arsenal, effectively balancing security and convenience in my daily professional routine.

I've used one of these to secure multiple MFA devices for a while now. This is easy to use, rugged and performs well. Some of the potential uses are a bit complex, but basic setup is OK as long as you follow the directions.

I use this for U2F, and GPG, and SSH, and linux PAM. Truly a swiss-army-knife of security. I hope that someday the world does away with passwords, and logins can be like literal housekeys, via my yubikey. So far, also very sturdy! Just a few caveats - OSX PAM module works, but OSX has made a hash of the PAM stack. Not yubico's fault, but still a bummer. - Near as I can tell there's no real way to set windows into passwordless, key-only login mode. Again, microsoft's fault, not yubiko's. - GPG works, but encryption opens up a whole can of worms around key rotation. This problem feels fundamental to GPG, and I hope the ecosystem as a whole improves here.
