Great Knife
This knife is very solid and sturdy. It's compact size doesn't detract from it's capability at all. No, it's not the best slicer, due to the short and thick blade. But overall, it's a great EDC knife. Both the fit and finish are excellent, and the lockup is very strong. I used my Smith's kit (and a bit of elbow grease) to re-profile the blade to 20 degrees, and it takes a very nice edge - very sharp. Some people have commented on the difficulty of opening and closing one-handed. Mine was a bit stiff out of the box, but it has broken in nicely and can be opened with a flick of the thumb on the stud now. To me it's a bit heavy for carrying with dress slacks, so it may not be the best choice if that's your daily attire; otherwise, it's not bad at all. If you're a fan of tough but small knives (as I am), you'll love this one for sure. The quick open/bottle opener notch is very handy as well. If you like a knife that feels like quality, you won't be disappointed. They also make a left-handed version for the southpaws. In my opinion, it's worth every penny.

what a great knife. The knife fits deep in the pocket ...
Wow, what a great knife. The knife fits deep in the pocket and slides in and out easily. I really like the Green G10 which gives you a good grip on this sturdy knife. What is even better is the other side is smooth metal, making it easy to slide in and out of the pocket. The blade is black and solid as a rock. Nice and think with a good sharpness out of the box.The bottle opener built into the blade also acts as a "wave" feature if wanted. When I say "wave" I mean it can be used to open the knife with one hand. This is done by pulling the knife against the pant pocket. The knife also has a glass breaker feature that does not interfere with daily carry or tear up your hand or pants.I will tell you the knife does take some "breaking in". After many times of opening and closing the knife it is much easier to open. The only bad thing (if you can even call it that) is the silver clip (it has HEAT stamped on it).I'm ordering a black clip from the company. (I called them and they are great, spent time on the phone, answered questions and went the extra mile, I will be buying more of their products). What is even better about this knife is it is a lot cheaper than the others and that is just because of the Green G10, which I actually like better.First time I have given any product 5 stars, good stuff.

Generally a fan of some DPx Gear, but there was no love fest going on with this HEAT Folder.
Long story cut short: I returned this knife as I did not really feel the love!First impressions were that this is a very tough, stout and sturdy folder. It was sharp out of the box and did the basic paper cutting tests (copy paper and also junk mail type thinner paper) with ease. As many have stated, the lock can be too sticky and the one which I received felt extra sticky. When I spend $150, I really don't want to be dealing with such a major issue, because I have actually inflicted nasty cuts and injuries on myself in the past, trying to be less critical but no more so with something as lethal as a sharp blade. Also the one which I received did not have a centered blade and when closed it was almost touching the left side of the frame.Aesthetically it was a very good looking folder but nothing especial in terms of a fast deployment if compared to some of the SpyderCo knives such as the Para2 and the Manix2 which can be had for a little less $. Overall, I feel that with some refinement this can become great folder even worthy of taking on camping trips as a backup little knife. It feels sturdy enough to even (probably) baton on but I would not trust positioning my ungloved fingers near that sharp and lethal blade which does not have a ball-bearing locking mechanism with the choil so close to the blade, just in case the blade collapses while performing some "unconventional" tasks such as batoning with a folder! One other issue unrelated to the folder in general but specific to the unit which I received was that it seemed like a prior customer return. The DPx knives come with an outer black sleeve which the knife box slips into. The black sleeve has a hologram type Mr. DP Skull logo on it and mine didn't come with that. I have bought other new DPx Gear knives and I know how they are supposed to be presented if new. This one was returned (again).

Tank of a Knife
This knife is built like a tank. Thick blade, thick handle scales, short a stubby. I have large hands but can get a four-fingered grip on it. It was a little stiff out of the box, but I take apart and oil all my knives anyway, and once I did that, it flicked open with ease. There was some lock stick at first, but opening and closing it a few times got rid of it. It was sharp enough to shave hair out of the box. The bottle opener on the blade spine works great and I've also used it to open my knife when drawing it from the pocket. All in all it's a great little over-built knife, and I'll probably buy another version of it down the road.

It is a very convenient and easy carry. I do not feel it's weight in ...
I was initially undecided about the DPx folders, especially the mixed reviews of the DPx HEST 2.0 . However, having finally purchased the DPx HEAT, all I can is that I am very impressed with the construction, fit and finish of this little folder. I wouldn't really say that it is little as it fills my hand perfectly and I feel very confident taking on any heavy duty task without reservation. It is a very convenient and easy carry. I do not feel it's weight in my pocket, it came very sharp ut of the box and very nimble when performing daily cutting tasks. Considering the blade material and thickness as well as other design features, I feel that this is the perfect EDC knife.

I dislike how difficult it is to close
I dislike how difficult it is to close. As you hold the blade, your hand puts pressure on the pocket clip, which puts pressure on the lock bar. It's a nice knife overall, but this really kills the vibe of an overall nice knife.
