The review is based on a previous order.
I have not used either of the two lamps yet. Normally, I check new lamps to ensure they work before I store them away. These lamps are so difficult to remove AND install, I am afraid of bending the pins or otherwise damaging them, so I have not tested them (possibly, the pins are a little oversized for my desk lamp, but I'm unable to locate others that fit). Hopefully, they work when the time comes. I've also heard that halogen bulbs must be handled with gloves on, or they can be damaged; that's another reason for me not to pretest.

Bulb broke as I was inserting it; neither bulb worked
Two bulbs purchased. One of them broke (a piece of glass chipped off) as I was trying to install it (gently!). Neither bulb worked in my light. Granted, it could be my light that is the issue... but the fragility of the bulbs did not inspire confidence.

IT WORKS IN MY OTT
I ordered a light bulb that looked like it would fit my lamp, only to have to return it. BUT, this bulb fit my standing OTT light perfectly!

WARNING: Check Voltage! 12V, not 120V
These will not work for your halogen lights at home!I wrote a review previously that these bulbs blew immediately. It turns out I used them in a 120 V service. I think these bulbs are meant to replace car headlamps which are 12 V service.Cars use 12 VHome uses 120V

They are the right bulbs.
Yes, these are 12v bulbs BUT many desk lamps, (such as mine), have a transformer that steps down 120v to 12v. I have installed one of these and it works great. One note of caution is to avoid handling these with bare fingers as the oil in your fingers might degrade performance. Also, it pays to clean bulb with alcohol and let it dry before installing.

Great but not dual brightness
Works great -- inexpensive and arrived fast in Prime. Just a note if you're using this to replace an IKEA halogen lamp with dual brightness settings: it only worked for me on full brightness. That's fine, since it's how I always used the lamp, but at first I thought the bulb was broken since no light came out on the other setting.
