Elf on the Shelf : A Christmas Tradition Blue Eyed Boy Elf Plus Bonus Official "An Elf's Story - Chippey's Great Adventure" Easy to Read Storybook

We had been planning to get an elf for our boys for a while. I was unexpectedly called out of town just before Thanksgiving, and thought it would be a great idea to send one home "to keep an eye on our boys, and remind them that Christmas is coming." They were overjoyed. Then started the hard part of having an elf--finding it and making sure where it is placed every day until Christmas! Our boys didn't remember every day to look for it, so it went unseen for several days. Luckily, a local santa visit at a store backed up the notion that the elf isn't supposed to be seen, they are supposed to be hiding! Fun for pre-holiday preparation.

These are really big this year, I bought one set for each grandchild then I found out that they already had them. Im hoping that Mom and dad can't find them . Only the 6 yr old remembers what they are. I was not aware that the story and moving the elf around the house should take place from Thanksgiving to Christmas.

I like the elf but its definitely geared towards a family with young children and I can see where it would be a lot of fun moving it around. So, for now, he sits on my fireplace mantel but since I am a kid at heart I am sure my elf will probably end up somewhere in the house.

I did not receive the addtional book that was supposed to be included "Chippeys Great Adventure". Other than that, the elf is wonderful.

After hearing bits and pieces of Elf on the Shelf lore over the past few years, we decided to give it a try... We ordered our elf and wondered if our 3 year old son would be into it or if he was still a bit young, The first night he rang our doorbell, and it just so happened to be right after I read our little guy the book. He looked at "Fred" with a little bit of caution..and we thought it might not be that big of a deal to him. Well.. It's amazing how much a toddler takes in... Especially after he realized the next day that Fred is in a different place each morning.... And once he saw the Movie... BAM! Our new, very important family Christmas tradition was born. Only thing I would recommend knowing what I do now is make sure you have the video too... It really helps tie it all together

Unfortunately, the picture of the elf was not the same as the elf shipped. Had to replace one that was misplaced and we knew when it came that it was wrong. The kids took one look said that the wrong elf came to our house.

We got what we asked for and more. We thought we were getting a doll and a book, but what we got was a special holiday tradition that was a ton of fun. My husband and I would take turns with him and we had so much fun. I found even e=single couples doing it and we were comparing ideas and photos at work. It is truly a fun, holiday tradition, not only for the kids to see what did the elf get into tonight or where is he, but for the adults to have fun planning it and creating a memory

Elf is made from cheapest recycled material. It is not going to last long. Box looks good.
