Not just macro
Plus:Although not svelte weighs less than the 110mm and the larger zoom.Has OIS - big plus if you are using a non IBIS bodyInternal focusing (length doesn't change when focus closer)Smaller than some non-Fuji macros combines with adapter.Very sharp but what did you expect.AF seems to be accurateFocal length is equivalent to FF 95mm so there is portraiture potential but see max aperture comment belowCons:Heavy, at least if you are used to the mid range lenses like 45mm or 63mmAF is slow. Definitely not for sports. Setting the range limiter helps. Is not 1x (1:1) at closest focus. Only 0.5x (1:2). There s an extension tube you can buy though.Max aperture too small for dedicated/serious portrait photographers. For occasional use you can probably find a way.The APS-C equivalent focal length is 60mm but if you are thinking that this is just the big bro to Fuji's APS-C 60mm macro - think again. Doubling focal length more than doubles size and weight.

The usual great Fuji lens
This lens is tack sharp and that quality really shines with the medium format camera! Even wide open, this lens is extremely sharp all the way to the corners, it does improve very slightly when stepped up to 5.6 but the difference is so small that you really need to look very intensely at a blown up image to find it. Although this is a macro lens, it actually works very nicely also as a portraiture lens with very nice bokeh. In addition to the clarity of this lens, the image stabilization is a very nice addition. Due to the high pixel count on the medium format sensor, a person can be very restricted on the situations where you can hand shoot with this camera, especially if you are wanting to keep the ISO at 100, and so gaining at least 4 stops, if not 5, is very valuable and allows a person to shoot hand held a much greater percentage of the time.

Remarkably Sharp Lens
To my knowledge, this is the first image stabilized prime lens that Fujifilm has produced to date for either their cropped sensor or medium format systems. It is what we call a" close-up" lens, not a true 1:1 macro. And, if you want to use with it that understanding, it is a fine lens for that purpose. But, I use it for it's beginning telephoto qualities (95mm full frame equivalent) and for that purpose it is truly outstanding in all aspects. Very sharp lens. Now I would like to see a image stabilized 135 or even a 150 full frame equivalent (like the Pentax 6X7 300mm, which I still have) at the same size and weight as this. Like the Wandering Lensman, I too wish Fujifilm made all their primes image stabilized. This lens proves they can do it if they want to.

Lacks corner sharpness at 0.5x - shouldn’t be called macro imo
So the summary is this lens does not have a flat field and lacks comers sharpness at 0.5x. I was excited for this lens and the Fuji GFX100s. I am a professional macro photographer who needs to resolve detail down to a minimum of 100um (beyond if I get to 2-5x). The lens (as well as a canon 100l, or 65mm mpe ) all lacked sharpness at the corners. Fuji engineers eventually told me they had made trade offs to make it a good all purpose lens and therefore it lacked corner sharpness when at the closest working distance. They even sent me an extra camera body and Novaflex bellows with a 90mm flat field lens to test - but unfortunately I need a 1-5x solution and that isn’t it. If your shooting standard it might be ok but if you need 0.5x-1x flat field sharpness I’d consider a different option. Buyer beware.

Fantastic - highly recommended!
I was worried when I got it, there was a muted rattle inside the barrel of the lens, turns out to be nothing, once the camera is on it doesn't make a sound except for the focus motor. Amazing lens, great for macro, and as a short telephoto. Highly recommended.
