Guerlain Shalimar Initial Eau EDT 60 ml

I might as well be honest from the start! For my money, NOBODY can touch Guerlain for exceptional perfumes! The subtlety of their creations, that indefinable 'je ne sais quoi' that is, I suppose, the Guerlinade, the luxurious-yet-refined bottles, the history behind the creation of each one makes the wearer feel truly special. And Shalimar has to be the most iconic of the thoroughbred Guerlain stable of world-renowned perfumes. Yet it takes a very self-assured woman to carry it off. Enter Thierry Wasser's Shalimar Parfum Initial. A definite Shalimar, yet softer, with greater emphasis on the creamy vanilla and a new element: buttery caramel. A more wearable version for a younger woman, and a slight nod to the trend for 'gourmand' perfumes. This is a beauty!!! I ordered this because the 100ml edp alone is offered elsewhere (House of Fraser, Debenhams, Selfridges, John Lewis) for £79.99. Here on Amazon I found it for a tad over £58, with a free body lotion thrown in. Great value for sheer elegance in a (stunning) bottle!!!-update July 2014 -I've just re-ordered this, and discovered that it is even more of a bargain than it was five months ago!! But, honestly, that isn't why I re-ordered. I did so because quite simply this has become my "signature" Guerlain; the one I never want to be without, and since I wear it every day, the bottle was getting perilously low! In the past, the "old" Shalimar was my Winter perfume which had to give way in the Summer months to two other Guerlains: Après l'Ondée or Aqua Allegoria Mandarine et Bsalique - both much lighter in the Summer heat. But I'm finding that Shalimar Initial is fine (even though I'm writing this on the hottest day of the year!). It's less overtly oriental than it's big sister, Shalimar, so not too cloying, even when the temperature rises.

I love this parfum due to the fact that my mom bought me some when I was a teenager and I just loved the soft scent. This was sent very quickly and I would recommend the seller. Good value for the money.

I only had a small sample to try from one the major stores but so liked the smell, I took a gamble and ordered a bottle - its really lovely and am so pleased I did. I think in future I will ask for a present from Father Christmas or birthday, as husband never knows what to buy and then I can use it more freely instead of only special occasions.

Amazing size bottle for the price. I don't believe that this is genuine though! The fragrance wears off after 5 minutes and doesn't have that initial zing of a shalimar. I haven't had a reaction so I will keep and have on my desk at work to spritz on throughout the day. Defo not a special perfume, avoid for date night or going out as once the high notes wear off it's a bit 'old lady'.

does not quite smell like my other Shalimar but for the price it is great for every day perfume

love this perfume, its not over powering as some are. And I have had a few nice comments on what a lovely perfume is. I first bought this item on a return journey at a Duty Free on a return from holiday, and have never looked back, now I know I can buy it on Amazon
