Works great; easy to use
The instructions are surprisingly good for these products because usually, the instructions are written by a kindergarten drop-out.I just got this item handed to me by the delivery guy and right away I was able to record videos and played it back on my computer and phone.Set once: slide the switch to either HD ( lower res ) or FHD ( higher res ). slide the other switch to either REC ( continuous record like a body cam ) or MD ( motion detect ).From off, for each use: just hold down the one button and count to three. Now let go. It starts recording.-- OR!! --From off, for each use: just plug in a battery bank or phone charger and it starts recording automatically. Unplug the charger and it stops recording. That is extremely easy. This method works just like a dash-cam in a car. In fact, you **could** use this as a dash-cam. But in the heat of the sun, the battery will melt your car. So, in reality, you'd have to wire a supercapacitor in place of the tiny battery. So, far my experience is that, this records a narrow view; this records audio, but low.Note that the instructions tell you to format your micro sd card to FAT. No need. Just put it in and the camera does what it needs automatically. I put in an sd card that I had used in a ___LINUX system____ it was formatted for linux. The camera formatted it automatically. I also had a sd card from another camera, still this cam erased everything and set up the card for itself. No need to do anything to prepare the sd card. The battery gets very hot during charge and hot immediately. The battery has only two wires connecting to the main circuit board. This means there is no temperature sensor. This also means the battery might not properly charge. For sure, charging will not be optimal; for sure charging will be dangerous if the battery is already hot; for sure the battery will not last.I do not plan on using this as intended.I plan to swap out the tiny lithium ion battery with a tiny super capacitor. I plan to either use it with a usb battery bank. And since it is already so tiny, I could put both the camera and the battery bank in my pocket.OR I might simply take out the battery and directly wire it to an 18650 lithium cell. Of course, that will make the tiny camera huge by comparison. But I am not concern about walking around with a hidden camera. Instead, I will proudly stick it out so that people will see my gadget.

COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY
Buyer beware, the Yi Eye app that this device uses is a BROKEN MESS, does not connect, and for some reason while it's trying to make a connection it makes your phone emit a high pitch noise that hurts your ears and when you try to turn it down a messages pops up telling you that you have to have your phone volume on high or else you risk a timeout failure, What? I have never heard of anything like this, why do I have to submit my ears to this? I did this numerous times and it always timed out, I had the phone right on top the frame because it also said it had to be close, I had to leave the room due to the high pitch squeal. Honestly I don't even know why I attempted more than once, I was starting to get concerned about my phone speakers. Also the instruction booklet that came with this device had information just thrown in, there was no order to the steps. Another thing the instructions tell you to plug the USB into a wall socket to charge but it does not come with a USB to wall socket adapter. The cover you have to take off that exposes the charging port is flimsy and difficult to take on and off and the first time I removed it a piece broke off. Overall this product and the App that it uses FAILS on EVERY LEVEL. Zero Stars is still to many to give this utter piece of dung masquerading as a security camera.

Great Idea!
After the house I live in was burglarized by cutting the power to the house, and the cameras I had up were disabled and stolen, I looked into battery operated hidden cameras and a hidden battery to extend the modem and wifi in case power is cut again (power for up to one hour). The first one I got was a ‘fake fire detector’ and it is a product from the same company that is using the same app as this picture frame and I wall mounted it to see the entire room. It works well although the quality of the video is not that great. The Frame seemed easier, and less detectable. Once I figured out how to hook it up (it’s not as hard as some have described, I did it with an iPhone), I put it on my bedroom door with some art created by myself in the frame, that was once on the door, prior. The motion detection works well, although it actually didn’t at first, it stopped working after the first week and I had to reset it and re-paired it up with my wifi (make sure it’s not on a 5G network, use 2.4). It works well now. Not only alerting me, but recording anything that goes by, and the picture is clear, so I can see faces. The only issue I have after setting it up again is that I no longer see the option to extend the recording beyond 10 seconds (it was there the first time). The audio recording is really good, and when I check the view without recording, can hear what’s going on in the house. When I did go to the site of the company for the app to see if there was an update, the website is gone and it seems it is no longer updated or supported.

Excellent Product that Works as Described.
1. Charging must be done with frame turned on. Otherwise, you are not actually charging it.2. Green light comes on solid when fully charged.3. The blue “thumb drive” is actually a microSD card reader.4. Frame should be located in same room as router. Otherwise, use a WiFi range extender.5. Only works on 2.4Ghz WiFi. 2.4Ghz actually has greater range than 5GHz.6. Night vision is excellent.7. Yi Eye on iOS:a. It shows the data speed and the frames per second, as well as the battery charge level status.b. You can manually record video or photos, as needed. In this mode, they are recorded to your phone’s camera roll and not on the SD card.c. You can set up a detection schedule.d. You can set the detection range.e. You can set it to detect only people and the detection zone.Problems people claim to be caused by the product or app are probably, actually, caused by WiFi router placement or failure to properly charge the battery. This is an excellent product that works as described.

Considering the price, this is a very good little cam with qaulity video. Definately gets the thumbs up from me

camera
I don't like that the record start button is surface level as it it makes it hard to start recording on short notice, I would have liked it slightly raised

Bad product.
The product I bought is not working at all. Wasted so much time to fiddle with it too. Tried to return but it cost me 50-60 dollars although Amazon claim to cover 30$. And the product is only 47.90$. I gave up and decide to write this review to warn others. I hope Amazon can just send me the replacement without me sending back the item. I have also bought a 64mb storage memory chip and it’s going to be wasted too. Very bad experience.
