Can you please tell me the exterior dimensions of this box? We need something 8" wide or less.

These measurements are based on a standard size automobile battery and not the longer deep cycle battery. The standard sized box bottom section is 8" wide x 12", however the molded in handles add another 1 1/2" to each end. The lid is bigger at almost 10" wide x 14" to account for the cable openings on each end and side. Hope this helps

The dimensions you give here are the exact dimensions of the small battery box. I. looked up the battery you asked about—the EXPERT PRO 12180 12v 18 ah — the dimensions of that battery lists at 7.1 inch X 3 inch X 6.6 inch . If that is your correct battery it should fit in the box with no problem

This battery box, as indicated, is designed for a 27 series battery. We used them for 29 series batteries which are a little longer and taller as well as heavier than the 27 series. It is a sturdy box, the lid fits the longer & taller battery well & the strap is long enough to secure the lid.
