Incredible fun, and still simple enough for a 4-year-old
I should say this isn't a kid's game. I don't want to paint this game with that brush because the game designers clearly had adults in mind when they made it. Love Letter wasn't made for kids, but this entire review is about playing it with my small children. The point I want to make is that it's a fun game made for adults that you can teach to any small child. My kids (currently 4 1/2 & 7... another too young for the story) have always enjoyed playing board games, but if you've ever played games with a young child you know it's a mind-numbing experience because the games are awful. I'm talking Chutes & Ladders, Candyland, Hi Ho Cherry-O... the sorts of games where the players are just passengers and not really making any decisions.A few months ago I started searching for a game that was challenging enough that I would actually want to play it and simple enough that my 4-year-old could play it.After 3 or 4 fails I came upon Loot Letter and started teaching my 4-year-old son. It took about a dozen rounds (a round only lasts 2-5 minutes) of me looking at his cards and telling him what to play, then quizzing him on the cards one-at-a-time at the end of each round. Now it's all he ever wants to do and I am more than happy to oblige him. He understands the game, makes some child-like mistakes (like always guessing the most powerful card even though it's one of the least likely), and he wins half the time.So a game that is interesting enough for adults, but simple enough for a 4-year-old... I don't know that I can give a better review than that. Let me enumerate some of the reasons I think it is a game that a small child can play.*There are only 8 face cards. It took very little time to learn what each card meant, even though my 4YO can't read.*Distinct pictures help with memorization... the silly, colorful pics make Loot Letter the choice above the other versions of the game.*You only have to decide between two cards. You have one card in your hand, you draw one, then you pick which one to discard/play. The gameplay is very simple.*Even when your child loses the game he will have won a few rounds. Sure we have to teach them to be gracious losers, but being able to show them a little successes helps, and Loot Letter comes with little tokens to help keep track of the points. As for other licensed versions of 'Love Letter', I would still recommend this Munchkin variation. The Hobbit version has a 9th card whose purpose is a bit difficult to understand AND one of the cards has two different faces that created another variation making it a bit more complicated, and the Batman version's artwork is probably just a bit more adult-oriented than small kids are used to. Both of those versions also lack the distinctiveness in the artwork that the colorful cartoony 'Loot Letter' carries with it.Obviously I am a big fan. We have a box at home and I keep a bagged one in the car for times we are stuck in waiting rooms. I can't recommend this game enough. Fun for everyone.

Love Letter for Munchkin fans!
It's a fast game that's easy to learn. It's a variation of Love Letter, but we love Munchkin, so this was a good option for us. It wasn't expensive and we've definitely gotten our money's worth out of it!After shuffling, place one card off to the side (3 more if you're playing with two people). You're given one card. On your turn, you draw a card and choose which one to play. The goal is to make it to the end of the round and have the highest ranked card. The winner is given a piece of loot (a small yellow block) and, depending on how many people are playing, the first to collect a certain number of blocks is the winner. The cards are:1 - Potted Plant - there are 5 of these. If you have one, you pick another player and guess what card they're holding (no guessing the Potted Plant though!). If you're correct, they're out of the round.2 - Maul Rat - 2 cards. Look at another player's hand. Can come in handy if you get a Potted Plant later and can remember what you saw!3 - Duck of Doom - 2 of these as well. You compare hands with another player. Whoever is the lowest is out.4 - Wishing Ring - 2 cards. You're protected from effects from other players' cards.5 - Net Troll - 2 cards. Force another person to discard their card and draw a new one.6 - Dread Gazebo - only 1 of these. Trade hands with another player. Can be a bummer if you've got Loot!7 - Turbonium Dragon - 1 card. Worth 7 points, but if you have a Net Troll or Dread Gazebo in your hand, you're forced to discard the dragon. Bummer!8 - Loot! - 1 card. This one is the best unless someone plays a Net Troll, Dread Gazebo when you're close to winning. Also, if you discard this, you're out of the round.Takes about 10-20 minutes to play and is pretty fun.

Fun, easy, quick game
This is a very fun card game to play, ideally with 3 or more people (child or adult) especially when you don't want to play a long board game. It takes less than 30mins to play. My sister has the Love Letter card game and she said she preferred this munchkin Loot Letter version. You'll be surprised at how small the deck is, it's only 16 cards. It's easy to learn/teach and to carry around. I bought this clamshell edition since it comes in a small pouch rather than the box which is unnecessarily double the size.It also comes with a bonus card for the original munchkin game. If you have the munchkin quest game, sadly, the bonus card does not work with it. The card size is different. The seller shipped very quickly.

A great re-skin of Love Letter and all around fun, and quick game
I picked this up for under-normal retail cost on Amazon as I had heard good things about the 'original' game Love Letter. Having more of an aesthetic desire of Munchkin, I decided to pick this version up instead. For those that do have a Munchkin game, it comes with a free card for that too :)The game itself is fun, quick, and witty. It's good with more players, but acceptable with just 2 players as well, so I highly recommend adding this to your board game collection

Great game to kill some time and have some fun!
If you're looking for a game that is quick to learn, quick to play, and has a fun theme this is a great option!Munchkin Loot Letter is an excellent game; it is a Munchkin themed version of the game AEG Love Letter , which I haven't played, but I assume is very good too. I received a copy of Munchkin Deluxe for Christmas and immediately wanted more Munchkin. I saw a recommendation for this game online and decided to give it a try as I was looking for a short game that my wife and I could play. Loot Letter is very easy to pickup and learn, but also very quick to play. The game is rated for 2-4 players is a lot of fun at both ends of the player range. The clamshell edition comes with a small bag to carry the cards and loot in, which makes traveling with the game easy. The game also comes with a card to add to your regular Munchkin game.

Great engaging little game, easy to keep with you
Great little game, very engaging. The little clamshell makes it easy to carry with you and break out when you're stuck in airport/train station or whatever with friends.
