Easy to use

Converted from a CAT user to these about 3 years ago and will never go back. Prefer these for upper extremities and SOF T for lower extremities.

I have been an EMT since 2003, a full-time firefighter since 2013, and teaching emergency response for over 15 years. This is in my opinion the best windless style tourniquet on the market.The Good-One of the most common mistakes I see in training is students tend not to get all of the slack out of the strap before tightening the windless. This really eliminates this issue by having an buckle which gives an audible click and 2 prongs lock the strap to prevent it loosening.-The windless is metal, solid, and long enough to easily grip. It has gnarling, which makes easy to grip even with gloves and when wet.-The lockup on the windless is the same style as the NAR CAT tourniquet, except beefed up and feels more solid and secure.-Price is average for quality. I am do not feel ripped off, unlike with many of the other emergency medical supplies out there.The Bad-Only one I have in this category is the same issue I have with all CAT style tourniquets: they are difficult to use on small individuals. For small people or children, you may still need to either use a improvised tourniquet or something like a SWAT or RATS tourniquet system. I carry two of the SAM XT and two of the RATS Gen 2 tourniquets in my kit, which handles the limitations of both.Overall:Buy this tourniquet. Two of them. Today.

Excellent tourniquet that ensures initial tension is correct. It a great TQ for non-professional responders and professionals alike.

Just barely fits the rigid 11 10 gen 7 cat tk case, if you stage it right, By folding the tip over itelf by about 2" to create a pull tab, then tucking it under the windlass. Then Z folding aligning the ends of each Z fold between the top where the windlass gate is located and the top of the Truforce buckle.. If you did it right you can slide the Truforce buckle by itself as it enters the rigid tk holster which fits perfectly, then align the windlass with the windlass channel of the holster masking sure none of the webbing twisting underneath the windlass gets snagged on the top edge of the holster, it slides right in after that. Worked it on my self love the Truforce buckle click, and the metal windlass vs the plastic on the CAT. It's a bit hard to turn the windlass on yourself if you tighten the strap down to the click. In addition the tip is grey, would be better if it was red, easier to align it to your center line / toward the heart before applying it on yourself. I'd use different colors to differentiate between trainers and field units. Also I would get in reps on this one it is quite a bit harder to tighten up the windlass vs the CAT

There are several approved tourniquets that are must have's for trauma kits. What I like about this is the pull and click mechanism that ensures you have the tourniquet tight before increasing pressure with the windlass. The tourniquet is slightly bulkier, but just barely. The ability to adjust and use this tourniquet in a variety of scenarios is good. SAM makes great products and I think this one is another winner.

I like the way it lock into place. It is a beet idea but I don’t think it is any better than the other ones. Maybe it’s a lil easier and surer way. But I haven’t found a carrier for it.

Excelente torniquete, lo estuve revisando y parece original, se siente una gran diferencia respecto a los torniquetes chinos tipo CAT, este si aprieta la extremidad desde que se coloca y con muy pocas vueltas ejerce una gran presión, si lo recomiendo
