Rumpler Aircraft of WWI: A Centennial Perspective on Great War Airplanes (Great War Aviation Centennial Series) (Volume 11)

Mr. Herris is in the process of publishing the finest English language history ever of German aircraft makers during WW1. This volume is a must have for serious students of WW1 aviation. For modelers and those with a more casual interest in the aircraft factories of Germany, it contains more about Rumpler aircraft than they may need. Rumpler is more esoteric than Fokkers, Albatroses, and Gothas. Lots of wonderful photos, many printed in larger formats. Lots of fine color profiles and four view scale line drawings. Evidently this book is print-to-order by Amazon, and the paper used is inadequate for sharp reproduction of images. If you have some of Mr. Herris' other volumes (as I do), you may care that in this volume the Rumpler single seat fighter and single seat seaplane fighters covered in his other books have even more photo coverage here.

This is an excellent book of one of my favorite aircraft the Rumpler C series of two seater observation aircraft. The book is paperback, 208 pages, excellent photos and color illustrations, a table of the inventory of aircraft at the front by year, a table of production by year and deliveries by month, and line drawings mostly in 1/48 scale and a couple in 1/72 scale. Book covers the Rumpler Taube, early seaplanes, the B and C series two seater , the fighter and bomber series and the line drawings for many of the above. I bought the book to help me model the Wing Nut Wings 1/32 Rumpler C.IV model and also for general knowledge and information about the plane. It is an excellent book and I highly recommend it for said purpose. The only shortcoming of the book is that it is paperback. This book would have been better hardback as I prefer hardback.

This tome, when combined with the pertinent Windsock Datafiles will produce a solid and robust source of information. So why not buy the lot? I am!Strongly recommended!

Herris' books about the subject are superb. Sadly these books material quality is plain shameful and their price have gone up dramatically lately.
